Christa Théret (born 25 June 1991) is a French actress, best known for her role of Andrée Heuschling in Renoir . [1] [2]

Renoir is a 2012 French drama film based on the last years of Pierre-Auguste Renoir at Cagnes-sur-Mer during World War I. The film was directed by Gilles Bourdos and competed in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The film is set in the south of France during World War I and stars Michel Bouquet, Christa Theret, Thomas Doret and Vincent Rottiers. Renoir achieved critical and commercial success both in France and abroad, most notably in the United States where it is on the Critic's Pick list of The New York Times. The film was selected as the French entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but was not nominated. In January 2014, the film received four nominations at the 39th César Awards, winning for Best Costume Design.

Early life

As a child, Théret aspired to be a teacher and then to become an actress. [3]

Career

Théret's acting career began at the age 11, when she did her first film, Headhunter , in 2005. [3] Then at age 14, when played a role in Le Couperet as Betty Davert. Then, in 2007, she starred in Et toi t'es sur qui? as a gothic teenager named Julie dite Batman. In 2008, she had her first big break in with the lead role in Lisa Azuelos' blockbuster LOL , which led her to be nominated for the César for Best Promising Actress. [4] In 2012, she also starred in L'homme qui rit as Déa. In the future, she wants to be a director. [5] She is also writing her first short movie. [6]

Written by Azuelos and Delgado Nans, the film is about a teenage girl whose life is split between her studies in a Parisian high school, her secret diary, her parents, her friends, and her boyfriends. Christa Theret received a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actress in 2010.
