The Christian Heritage Centre at Stonyhurst is a charitable trust that has as its mission the provision of access to, and learning around, Christian artefacts held at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire, England. [1] Its royal patrons are Lord Nicholas Windsor and Lady Nicholas Windsor. [2] Other patrons and trustees include: Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Cardinal Christoph Schonbörn, John Bruton, Ann Widdecombe, Baroness Caroline Cox, Field Marshall Lord Guthrie, and Lord Alton of Liverpool. [3] The Centre has facilitated funding towards the restoration of the Old Chapel Museum and historic libraries in Stonyhurst College, which house a major collection of artefacts pertaining to the Roman Catholic community of Britain. [4] The Centre has also funded the restoration of the previously derelict Water Mill, which the charity now operates under the name Theodore House, as an international residential centre for study and retreats. [5] The house was opened by Lord Nicholas Windsor in February 2019 and is named for St. Theodore, the eighth Archbishop of Canterbury. [6] The charity has also developed a Tolkien Trail and is developing a Hopkins Trail, commemorating two Christian writers who were inspired by the local Ribble Valley countryside. [7] [8]

Beaumont College was between 1861 and 1967 a public school in Old Windsor in Berkshire. Founded and run by the Society of Jesus, it offered a Roman Catholic public school education in rural surroundings, while lying, like the neighbouring Eton College, within easy reach of London. It was therefore for many professional Catholics with school-age children a choice preferable to Stonyhurst College, the longer-standing Jesuit public school in North Lancashire. Stonyhurst St Mary's Hall is the preparatory school to Stonyhurst College. It is an independent co-educational Catholic school, for ages 3–13, founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It is primarily a day school but has some boarders. As the lineal descendant of Hodder Place the school lays claim to be the oldest preparatory school in the country.

Stonyhurst College as a school dates back to 1593 when its antecedent, the Jesuit College at St Omer, was founded in Flanders to educate English Catholics. The history of the present school buildings dates as far back as 1200 AD.

Thomas Bartholomew Weld (1750–1810), known as Thomas Weld of Lulworth Castle, was a member of the English Catholic gentry, landowner, philanthropist and bibliophile. He was connected to many of the leading Catholic families of the land, such as the Bodenhams, Cliffords, Erringtons, Petres and Stourtons. He proved to be a great benefactor of the Society of Jesus in England in their educational and pastoral endeavours, as timely donor of his Stonyhurst estate in 1794. He was also a benefactor to other Roman Catholic religious and clergy. He was a personal friend of King George III. His sister-in-law was Maria Fitzherbert. After the French Revolution he hosted refugee remnants of the French royal family at his castle. He was the builder, in 1786, of the first Roman Catholic place of worship in England after the Protestant reformation.
