Christian Poidevin (born 9 September 1998) is an Australian rugby union player, currently playing for the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby (MLR) in the U.S. His preferred position is flanker. [1]

Poidevin is the son of former Wallaby Simon Poidevin. [2] He attended Newington College and in 2022 earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of New South Wales. [3] He previously played for the LA Giltinis in the MLR.

Professional career

Poidevin signed for Major League Rugby side LA Giltinis ahead of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. [4] He had previously competed in the National Rugby Championship, representing Sydney in the 2018 and 2019 seasons. [5]

Owned by Adam Gilchrist and Loyals Rugby, the team was named for a yet-to-be-released drink, itself a portmanteau of "Gilchrist" and "martini". The Giltinis were based in El Segundo, California, and played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Darren Coleman was their first head coach.

The 2022 LA Giltinis season was the club's second and final season in Major League Rugby. Stephen Hoiles was the coach of the club for his first full year. Dave Dennis was the captain the club for the second consecutive year. The team finished the season second in the Western Conference standings, but was later disqualified from competing in the 2022 Major League Rugby playoffs due to violating league rules. The team was removed from the league for the 2023 season.
