Gonzalo Bertranou (born 31 December 1993) is an Argentine professional rugby union player who plays as a scrum-half for United Rugby Championship club Dragons and the Argentina national team.

Club career

Bertranou is a regular player for Argentina Jaguars, since 2013, being currently their captain. He played at 2015 World Rugby Nations Cup, where Argentina Jaguars was runners-up to Romania.[ citation needed ]

International career

Bertranou had his first cap for Argentina at the 71-7 win over Paraguay, at 23 May 2015, for the South American Rugby Championship, in Asunción. [1] [2] He played for Argentina in the Rugby World Cup 2019 and Rugby World Cup 2023.

The Jaguares was an Argentine professional rugby union team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They were founded in 2015 and are the first Argentine team to play in SANZAAR's Super Rugby competition, participating from the 2016 Super Rugby season onwards. They were the runners up during the 2019 Super Rugby season, losing to the Crusaders 19–3 in the Super Rugby Final, played on 6 July 2019. They participated in Super Rugby until the end of the 2020 Super Rugby season, before they departed the competition having not been named in any of the regionalised formats for the 2021 Super Rugby season. With no competition in sight, players moved to different clubs in Europe and the national group disintegrated. In July 2022 the Scotland rugby union team toured Argentina. It was the first time since 2010 that Scotland returned to tour Argentina, and the first time since 2018 the two teams had met. Before the series had begun both teams were equal on a head-to-head record of 9–9. However Scotland had a current five game win-streak over Argentina, the most Scotland had accrued over them in their eighteen meetings. Moreover, Argentina had not beaten Scotland since their meeting in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
