Pedro Rubiolo (born 21 December 2002) is an Argentine professional rugby union player who plays as a lock for Premiership Rugby club Newcastle Falcons and the Argentina national team. [1] [2]

Club career

He began his career at Club CRAR, Rafaela city, Santa Fe, Argentina before joining the Jaguares XV in the SLAR. Winning the competition in 2021. [3]

In 2022 he signed a long-term deal with English Premiership side Newcastle Falcons, [4] signing a two and a half year contract. He made his debut against Cardiff in the EPCR Challenge Cup. [5] [6]

International career

Rubiolo was named in the Pumitas squad for the 2021 tour of South Africa, starting in all 4 games. [7] He played in the Americas Pacific Challenge for the Argentina XV. [8] Starting in a 146–7 win over Paraguay A. [9]

He made his debut for Argentina coming off the bench against South Africa in The Rugby Championship. He was named in the Argentina squad for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. [10]

The Jaguares was an Argentine professional rugby union team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They were founded in 2015 and are the first Argentine team to play in SANZAAR's Super Rugby competition, participating from the 2016 Super Rugby season onwards. They were the runners up during the 2019 Super Rugby season, losing to the Crusaders 19–3 in the Super Rugby Final, played on 6 July 2019. They participated in Super Rugby until the end of the 2020 Super Rugby season, before they departed the competition having not been named in any of the regionalised formats for the 2021 Super Rugby season. With no competition in sight, players moved to different clubs in Europe and the national group disintegrated. The Jaguares disbanded permanently in December 2022 due to the expansion of Super Rugby Americas, dividing into two new teams, Dogos XV and Pampas XV.
