Christine Garner is an American former volleyball player who was a three-sport athlete at Arizona State University (ASU). [1] She played for the United States women's national volleyball team from 1994 to 1997. [1]
As a collegiate volleyball player, Garner still holds the ASU record of 1,871 career kills, and led ASU to its two finest seasons in history. [2] As one of the most illustrious players to ever take to the court for the Sun Devil volleyball program, Garner also ranks in the top 10 in career digs and service aces. She was a six-time Pac-10 Player of the Week and was also a recipient of a National Player of the Week honor. In addition to her numerous accolades at ASU, Garner was an AVCA second-team All-American in 1995. [3] [1]
Garner was also a star performer on the ASU softball team, and captain to both the ASU women's volleyball and basketball team. Garner went on after college to be part of the United States women's national volleyball team. [1] [4]
Garner was inducted into the Arizona State University Hall of Fame in 2009. [2]
Garner won the silver medal with the national volleyball team at the 1994 Goodwill Games. [5] Other world-class tournaments that she participated in included the 1997 World Grand Prix and the 1997 NORCECA tournament. [1] She left the national team in 1997 and played two seasons with the European Professional Volleyball League in Turkey and Italy. [1]

She won a bronze medal with the USA National Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. She also competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics, finishing in seventh place.

Tara Cross-Battle is a retired volleyball player from the United States who competed in four Summer Olympics overall, starting in 1992. Cross-Battle won the bronze medal with the United States women's national team at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Her last Olympic appearance was at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
Karolyn Kirby is a retired female beach volleyball player from the United States. She won the bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships in Los Angeles, California, partnering with Nancy Reno. The pair also won the 1992 Olympic tournament, at which time beach volleyball was a demonstration sport.
The 2008 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 15 through June 4, 2008. 64 NCAA Division I college softball teams met after having played their way through a regular season, and for some, a conference tournament, to play in the NCAA Tournament. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2008 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Katherine Burkhart is an American, former collegiate All-American, retired professional All-Star softball pitcher and softball coach. She played college softball at Arizona State, and won a national championship with the team in 2008 and was named Most Outstanding Player. Burkhart holds the career records in wins, strikeouts, perfect games, WHIP, innings pitched and strikeout ratio for the school. She also ranks in several career pitching categories and the top-10 for strikeouts and perfect games for both the Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA Division I. She has also pitched for the USA Softball team. She also helped remove snakes from a plane that was bound from Hawaii to Phoenix in 2023.
Liz Masakayan is a former indoor and beach volleyball player, and is currently a coach. She participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics with the United States women's national volleyball team, and as a beach volleyball player won a total of 47 tournaments in her career.
Lisa Love is the former athletic director of Arizona State University. At the time Love was one of only three female athletic directors in a Division I FBS Bowl Equity Conference of the NCAA. Love began her administrative career at USC. Prior to becoming an administrator, Love served as the volleyball head coach at the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of Southern California, leading her teams to the NCAA Division I Volleyball Tournament 13 times. In 2005, she was inducted into the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Hall of Fame.
Tammy Leibl is a retired American female indoor volleyball and beach volleyball player. She played college volleyball at Arizona State University and won the bronze medal with the U.S. national team at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
