YoUDee is a mascot of the University of Delaware, along with Lil Blue. It is an anthropomorphic "fighting Blue Hen", and its species is the blue hen, as the state bird of Delaware. While YoUDee appears masculine and can have male or female performers, it is "officially androgynous", "neither female or male".

William John Cubit is an American football coach and former player. Cubit was the head football coach at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, first on an interim basis in the 2015 season and then promoted to the post full-time before his dismissal on March 5, 2016. Cubit served as the head football coach at Widener University from 1992 to 1996, and Western Michigan University from 2005 to 2012. Most recently, in 2019, he served as assistant head coach and running backs coach at his alma mater, the University of Delaware.
Christine Grant was a Scottish-born American athlete, coach, administrator, and advocate for women's college athletics. Dr. Grant served as the athletic director at the University of Iowa from 1973 until 2000. She was inducted into the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006. Tina Martin is an American former college basketball coach. From 1996 to 2017, she was the head women's basketball coach at the University of Delaware. She helped make Delaware a women's basketball power, with eleven 20-win seasons including four regular-season CAA championships. Her teams also made four NCAA Tournament appearances, in addition to five WNIT appearances. She served as an assistant coach at Seton Hall University and at UNC Wilmington where she became interim head coach on February 13, 2022 and continued to serve as head coach for the 2022-2023 season.

The 1974 Grantland Rice Bowl was an NCAA Division II game following the 1974 season, between the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens and the UNLV Rebels.
