Christmas in Conway is a 2013 American Christmas romantic drama television film directed by John Kent Harrison, written by Stephen P. Lindsey and Luis Ugaz, and starring Andy Garcia, Mandy Moore, and Mary-Louise Parker. The film is part of the Hallmark Hall of Fame series, and premiered on ABC on December 1, 2013. [1]

Plot

When terminally-ill Suzy Mayor leaves the hospital to spend her last days at her home in Conway, South Carolina, her grouch of a husband, Duncan, is beside himself with concern for her and with annoyance at everyone else, including Natalie, the live-in hospice nurse who has come home with Suzy. When Duncan decides to build a Ferris wheel in the backyard as a Christmas present for Suzy, in honor of the place where Duncan proposed to her, the neighbors and townspeople of this quiet Southern town are quick to object. The film was shot in and around Wilmington, North Carolina, in August 2013. [3] Its score was composed by Geoff Zanelli. [4]

Ratings

During its premiere broadcast on December 1, 2013, the episode received a 1.1 rating and a 3 share in the key 18- to 49-year-old adult demographic. It was viewed by 6.45 million total viewers. [5] The ratings were considered to be poor, [6] and they were lower than a comparable Hallmark broadcast the previous year. [7]

Awards and nominations

The film was nominated for two MovieGuide Awards in 2014: the Faith and Freedom Award (Television), and the Free Enterprise Prize. It did not win in either category. [8]

Saved! is a 2004 American independent satirical black comedy film directed by Brian Dannelly, and starring Jena Malone, Mandy Moore, Macaulay Culkin, Patrick Fugit, Eva Amurri, Martin Donovan, and Mary-Louise Parker. Its plot follows a teenage girl (Malone) at a Christian high school who has sex with her boyfriend in an attempt to "cure" him of his homosexuality; she becomes pregnant as a result and is ostracized by her schoolmates. Filmed in British Columbia, the film had its theatrical release on May 28, 2004. Saved! was considered a sleeper hit, grossing over $9 million domestically following a platform release through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Signed, Sealed, Delivered, also known as Lost Letter Mysteries, is a drama/romantic comedy television series that aired on the Hallmark Channel in 2014 from April 20 through June 22. Created by Touched by an Angel's Martha Williamson, Signed, Sealed, Delivered focuses on four dedicated United States Postal Service employees who work in the Dead Letter Office. They take it upon themselves to track down intended recipients of undeliverable mail. Similarly to her previous program, the show promotes Williamson's Christian beliefs as the characters struggle with their faith, or lack of it, as one character is agnostic, while relying on divine intervention to accomplish their task. It is set in Denver, Colorado but filmed mostly in the Vancouver area. On October 12, 2013, a two-hour pilot movie aired on Hallmark and was a ratings success. It was the number-one television movie on its airdate and the number-two movie for that week. The movie was watched by 1.72 million viewers. Following one season of the TV series, Hallmark announced Signed, Sealed, Delivered would transition to a series of television films on its Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel.
