Christopher Davis is an Australian Paralympic archer. In 2023, he won the gold medal in Men's W1 at the 2023 World Para Archery Championships. He won Australia's first ever gold medal at World Para Archery Championships.
Davis at the age of five caught a virus that led to him being intensive care and this led to him losing strength in his limbs. [1] He has worked for Queensland Health as a social worker for twenty years. [2] He is married to Donna, an ultramarathoner. [1]
Davis is classified as a W1 archer and competes in the most impaired Paralympic event. He decided to pursue archer later in life after witnessing Matt Stutzman, an armless archer compete at the Paralympics. He took up archery in 2019. [2] Davis shoots his compound bow with a mouthtab, biting down on the material attached to the string and pushing the bow away from him to build tension. [1] Davis finished seventh in the Men's W1 at the 2022 World Para Archery Championships, his first major international event. [3] At the age of 51, he won the gold medal in Men's W1 at the 2023 World Para Archery Championships. In the final he defeated Bahattin Hekimoglu 131 to 127.
He is a scholarship athlete at the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS). [4]
Para-archery has been contested at every Summer Paralympic Games since they were first held in 1960. Separate individual and team events are held for men and women. Archers are classified according to the extent of their disability, with separate individual events for each of three classes.
Danielle Brown MBE is a British competitive archer and award winning children's author. She has competed in the Paralympic Games, winning gold medals in Beijing and London, and has also won medals shooting in the able-bodied category, including at the Commonwealth Games.
ARW1 is a Paralympic archery classification. It is a sitting class. This class includes Les Autres sportspeople. People from this class compete in the sport at the Paralympic Games.
ARW2 is a Paralympic archery classification.
ARST is a Paralympic archery classification. It is a standing class. This class includes Les Autres sportspeople. People from this class compete in the sport at the Paralympic Games. Some people in this class can use stools or have an assistant nock their arrows. Classification is handled by FITA – International Archery Federation.
Matthew Stutzman is an American archer. He competed at the 2012 and 2016 Paralympics and won a silver medal in 2012. Born without arms, Stutzman uses his legs and feet for most of his activities, including archery. He holds a world record for the longest accurate shot in the sport.
Zahra Nemati is an Iranian Paralympic and Olympic archer. She originally competed in taekwondo before she was paralyzed in a car accident. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics she won two medals, an individual gold and team bronze. She has qualified to compete at both the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. She was the flag bearer at the 2016 Olympics and the postponed 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo where she shared the honour with thrower Nourmohammad Arekhi.
Norbert Murphy is a Canadian archer. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in the Men's individual compound W1. He is currently 3rd in the world in the Men's Compound W1.
Guillermo Javier Rodríguez González is an adaptive archer from Spain. He won a gold medal at the Spanish Archery Championship for Physically Handicapped in 2010. Gonzalez represented Spain at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and the 2013 IPC World Championships. He shoots both the recurve and compound bows. He finished just out of the medals at the London Paralympics.
José Manuel Marín Rodríguez is an archer from Spain. He represented Spain at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics. He has also competed in several world championships.
Curtis Wain McGrath, is an Australian paracanoeist and former soldier. He took up canoeing competitively after both of his legs were amputated as a result of a mine blast while serving with the Australian Army in Afghanistan. McGrath won consecutive gold medals in the Men's KL2 at the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, and has won ten gold medals and a silver at ICF Paracanoe World Championships between 2014 and 2019.
Anthony Eric "Tony" South OAM AM is an Australian Paralympic archer who won a gold medal and two silver medals at the 1968 Summer Paralympics and a bronze medal at the 1972 Summer Paralympics.
Archery at the 2016 Summer Paralympics was held between 10 and 17 September 2016 at the Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí in the Maracana zone of Rio de Janeiro, and consisted of nine events. The make up of those events changed substantially from the 2012 games, and consisted of three men's events, three women's events and three events for mixed gender teams. Men, women and mixed teams each competed in two events for compound bow, one for wheelchair athletes, the other open, and an open event for recurve bow, the bow used for all Olympic events.

Jonathon Milne is an Australian Paralympic archer. In April 2015 he won the National Para Championships, held in Melbourne. He represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics where he won a bronze medal. Milne won a bronze medal at the 2023 World Para Archery Championships.
Joanna Frith, is a British archer who represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Paralympics.
India competed in the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, from 24 August to 5 September 2021. Indian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Paralympics since 1984, though they made their official debut at the 1968 Summer Paralympics. This was India's most successful Paralympic season with 5 golds 8 silvers and 6 bronzes. Before this edition, India had won 12 medals of all previous Paralympics appearances combined.
Bahattin Hekimoğlu is a Turkish world and European champion para-archer competing in the men's recurve bow W1 (wheelchair) event.
Nihat Türkmenoğlu is a Turkish Paralympian archer competing in the Men's compound bow W1 event. He is competing at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the individual W1 and Mixed team W1 events. He won the silver medal in the Individual W1 event.
Yiğit Caner Aydın is a Turkish world-champion para-archer competing in the Men's compound bow W1 event.
