Christopher Evans (born Christopher Evans Kaweesi; 1987), but commonly known as Chris Evans, is a Ugandan songwriter, recording and performing artist. He composes and sings in a genre of Ugandan music known as Kidandali. [1]

Overview

Chris Evans is one of Uganda's most popular musicians in the 21st century. In July 2013, BigEye.Ug, a Ugandan music website listed him as one of the 256 Best Ugandan Music Artistes Of All Time. [2] Chris Evans sings primarily in his native Luganda. As of January 2014, he had released about ten singles including: [3]

In 2015 Evans teamed up with Rema Namakula to compose, record and perform a duet named Linda (translates as "Wait" in Luganda). The single received the "Best RnB Song" at the "HiPipo Music Awards" in 2015, at a ceremony held at the Kampala Serena Hotel. [4]

Background

Christopher Evans Kaweesi was born to Christopher Kakooza, a construction worker and Mrs. Kakooza, a housewife. His mother died while he was still a baby and his father died when Kaweesi was about 13 or 14 years old. He paid for his elementary and middle school education by performing menial jobs at construction sites and at school. [1]

He passed his O-Level examinations with flying colors, scoring 14 points in 8 subjects (the best possible score is 8). His paternal uncle, sponsored his A-Level education at St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende, a good residential mixed high school, in Kajjansi, off of the Kampala-Entebbe Road. At Kitende, Kaweesi studies Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with Mathematics as a minor subject. [1]

He was admitted to Makerere University on a Uganda Government scholarship to study Agriculture. He enrolled, attended classes, but never graduated. Instead, he used the contacts at the university, to launch his musical career. [1]

Sister Charity is a western Ugandan musical artist and TV personality. She presents the morning show (Sisimuka) on TV West in Mbarara, Uganda. She is popularly known for her 2001 hit song Grade. She sings mostly in her native language Runyankore and then Luganda and English. She was listed among the best artists from Western Uganda alongside Juliana Kanyomozi, Ray G, Angella Katatumba and Toniks on Hi Pipo.

Sheebah Karungi, professionally known as Queen Karma and Sheebah, is a Ugandan musician, dancer, actress and feminist activist. She debuted her acting career in Queen of Katwe as Shakira. Born To Conquer (B2C) Entertainment, also known as Kampala Boys, is a Ugandan music group of three musicians who sing together. B2C is made of [Delivad Julio], [Mr. Lee B2C] and [Bobby Lash B2C]. Delivad Julio and Mr. Lee sing with soothing soft RnB vocals while Bobby Lash B2C sings the Ragga and dancehall vibes. The three formed B2C entertainment from school as they were students at Crested secondary school in Makindye Division in Kampala. Ssali Peterson professionally known as Bobby Lash B2C is a Ugandan musician born on 20 April 1992 from Namirembe Hospital in Kampala District in Uganda. Bobby Lash was born to the family of Mr. Ssali Peter and Mrs. Nabukeera Teopista. He is a professional musician signed under the B2C Entertainment record label since 2016.
