Juliana Kanyomozi (born 27 November 1980) is a musician actress and entertainer by occupation. Juliana is a multiple award-winning Ugandan pop musician, an R&B and Afro Beat Singer well known among Western Uganda's decent musicians. Juliana was born November 27, 1980, from Toro Fort Portal in Western Uganda, Mutooro by tribe. A Ugandan musician, actress and entertainer. Background and education

Kanyomozi is a first cousin to King Rukidi IV of Toro. [5] Her father `was a drummer and her grandmother was a vocalist. [6] Juliana attended City Primary School currently Arya Primary School for her primary education. She then joined Bugema Secondary School for her O-Level education and then Namasagali College in Kamuli District for her high school education. [7]

Career

Kanyomozi was the first female musician to win the Pearl of Africa Music Awards 'Artist of the Year' accolade. [8] In 2008, she made her film debut in Henry Ssali's Kiwani: The Movie. [9] [10]

In March 2014, she signed with international cosmetics company Oriflame to be one of their East African brand ambassadors together with Lady JayDee of Tanzania and Jamila Mbugua of Kenya. [11] More recently, she has collaborated with Nigerian entertainer Flavour. [12]

In 2011 she was nominated in the Pan Africa Artiste or Group category at that year's Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA). [13] In December 2015, she won a lifetime achievement award in Diva Awards Afrika. [14]

Between 2009 and 2013, she judged at the then popular Tusker Project Fame (TPF) talent search show. In 2010, she did this alongside judges like Ian Mbugua from Kenya and Tanzania’s Hermes Joachim. Gaetano Kagwa alongside other personalities who were the hosts of the show.

Personal life

Kanyomozi had a son, Keron Raphael Kabugo, who died in late July 2014. [15] Her son was asthmatic, but the cause of death was not published. [16] On Wednesday 12 May 2020, Juliana announced that she had given birth to a baby boy whom she named Taj. [17] [18] In 2006, Kanyomozi had a temporary romantic relationship with United States-based Ugandan boxer Kassim Ouma. [19] On 12 May 2020 she gave birth to a baby boy. [20] [21]

In 2013, Big Eye Magazine rated Kanyomozi one of the most beautiful Ugandan women of all-time. [22]

Juliana Kanyomozi debuted her acting career in 2008 in a Ugandan crime thriller film, Kiwani: The Movie alongside Flavia Tumusiime, Hannington Bugingo and Allan Tumusiime. [33] She was also a judge on East Africa's leading singing competition, Tusker Project Fame from 2009 to 2013. [34] She was also one of the selected African musicians to represent in Coke Studio Africa. [35]

Aziz Mukisa, professionally known by his stage name Aziz Azion, is a Ugandan R&B singer-songwriter, guitarist and musician. He was born Aziz Mukisa on 27 July 1986 in Fort Portal, Uganda and raised in Kampala where he attended his early school program before making his move into the music industry at an early age. Popularly known as "the guitar emperor", Aziz has graced the Ugandan and East African music charts with the songs 'Yegwe', 'Nkumila Omukwano', 'Nakupenda', 'Oxygen', 'Beera Nange', 'Nzikiriza', 'Pain Killer', and 'Yo Love', among others. Popular music promoter and veteran disc spinner DJ Erycom while appearing on a TV Show, he said that "Leero Monday" was the very first song composed and sung by Aziz Azion in the year 2007.

Starting off his music career, Flex D'Paper was part of the high school rap group, The Rapaholix, which he started with friends, Dasper Cosine and later joined by Apass as an affiliate with whom the trio put out a mix tape, The Eviction Notice that included chart topping singles like "Burning", "Party Life" and "Follow Me" which topped countdowns in Uganda such as NTV and Sanyu FM. Undercover Brothers Ug also simply known as Undercover Brothers are a Ugandan music duo composed of guitarist and vocalist Jay K Mulungi and vocalist Timothy Kirya, whose music career sparked off when they won the auditions and represented Uganda in the sixth season of East Africa's biggest singing competition Tusker Project Fame. The duo released their first album titled At Dawn in December 2014. In December 2016, their song Nsikatila was nominated in the Best R&B Song category at HiPipo Music Awards (#HMA) 2017.

Jemimah Sanyu, also known as the Stage Gladiator, is a Ugandan musician, performer, producer, and voice coach. She has a commanding stage presence with a very strong voice. Sanyu has met people like President Yoweri Museveni while singing at the I am a Ugandan album premier. She has shared a stage with top African stars like Habib Koite, Navio, Joanita Kawalya of Afrigo Band, and Juliana Kanyomozi. and many other African stars.

Sister Charity is a western Ugandan musical artist and TV personality. She presents the morning show (Sisimuka) on TV West in Mbarara, Uganda. She is popularly known for her 2001 hit song Grade. She sings mostly in her native language Runyankole and then Luganda and English. She was listed among the best artists from Western Uganda alongside Juliana Kanyomozi, Ray G, Angella Katatumba and Toniks on Hi Pipo.

Kiwani: The Movie is a 2008 Ugandan drama film starring Juliana Kanyomozi, Hannington Bugingo, Allan Tumusiime and Flavia Tumusiime and directed and produced by Henry H. Ssali, a Ugandan journalist. The movie tells a tale of cheap tricks used by thieves and pickpocket on the streets of Uganda's Capital City, Kampala, the lives of university students and corporate personalities entangled.

Sheebah Karungi, professional also known as Queen Karma and Sheebah, is a Ugandan musician, dancer, actress and feminist activist. She debuted her acting career in Queen of Katwe as Shakira. After quitting Obsessions, a dance group she joined in 2006, she started making music and later rose to recognition upon the release of her hit single "Ice Cream". In 2014, she released her debut project Ice Cream, a five-track EP which did well commercially and led her to win back-to-back HiPipo Music Awards Best Female Artist in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. She also won the Artist of the Year award twice, in 2017, 2018, and 2019 at the HiPipo Music Awards.

Namukwaya Hajara Diana, also known as Spice Diana, is a Ugandan musician.

Julie Birungi alias was born on 27 February 1978) is a Ugandan-Canadian gospel singer and musician known in Uganda and across East Africa for her songs like Nkulembera, Lwana Nabo, Ekikunyumira and Bamuyita Yesu, a collaboration with Iryn Namubiru.

Reagan Muhairwe, commonly known as Ray G Rhiganz, is a Ugandan singer and songwriter. He mainly sings heritage music in Runyankore. He started singing in 2009 while at school until 2014 when he broke through with his hit song "Amarari". Ray has shared big stages with international artists like Eddy Kenzo, Meddy and Jose Chameleone on the Johnnie Walker Highball tour in Mbarara, He is among Allan Toniks, Sister Charity, Juliana Kanyomozi who come from Western Uganda. He has also collaborated with music heavy weights like Bebe Cool, Voltage music, Spice Diana, Serena Bata, Levixone, Truth 256.
