Christopher Romulo is an American former professional Muay Thai fighter and a trainer of Filipino descent.

Personal life

Born in New York City, Romulo was the first member of his family to be born in the United States. His father was Carlito Romulo and his mother was Lucita Fernandez Romulo. [8]

Christopher Romulo grew up in Queens Village in Queens. [2] [7] He is married to Sarah Romulo, a fitness trainer and boxer [9] [2] The couple has two children. [2]

Professional career

Romulo began his amateur career 1996 at age 21 . [3] [4] In 2003, Romulo began training under Jason Strout. That same year, they worked together to develop Church Street Boxing Gym's first Muay Thai program. Romulo's amateur career included five titles.

As a professional fighter, Romulo's record was 13–3 [10 KOs]. He won the WKA super middleweight North American title in 2010. [4] Romulo won a US National Championship, a North American Championship, and a Bronze medal in Bangkok in the World Cup. [10]

Romulo always entered the ring with the Filipino flag wrapped around him like a cape. [7] [8]

Romulo retired from active competition at age 37 after 16 years in the sport. [3]

Coaching career

Romulo built a training center in Rockaway, Queens in 2009. [8] It was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy but has since been rebuilt. [4] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17] Romulo owns and operates the training center with his wife Sarah. [3] [5] [6] [18]

Community involvement

In 2009, Romulo was selected as a spokesperson for the anti-bullying campaign Bullying...We're Kickin’ It. [3] [4] [19]

Romulo is also actively involved in the Muaythai Preservation Project which provides support for local children through scholarships to train and learn the sport. [20] [21] [22]

Simon Marcus, also known as The One, is a Canadian mixed martial artist and former Muay Thai kickboxer, who competes in the Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight divisions. Ky Conrad Hollenbeck is an American Muay Thai kickboxer who competes in the middleweight division. He won national and North American titles as an amateur in his teens before turning professional in 2007 and beating Billy Evangelista for the California state belt. He soon began competing internationally and rose to prominence when he took a decision victory over Steve Moxon in the final of a four-man tournament in 2010. The following year, Hollenbeck outpointed Gregory Choplin for the WBC Muaythai Interim World Middleweight Championship and then debuted in the Glory promotion in May 2012.

Chike George Lindsay-Ajudua is an American Muay Thai kickboxer who competes in the Middleweight division. Lindsay is the former WKA North American Champion, WBC Muaythai International Champion, and IMTO Super Welterweight Champion.

Filip Verlinden is a Belgian kickboxer who competes in the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions. Verlinden was introduced to the sport at an early age and came to prominence in 2008 when he won the WKA European Super Cruiserweight Muay Thai Championship, followed by the WKA World Cruiserweight title the following year. He then took the gold medal at the 2010 IFMA World Championships in the +91 kg/200 lb division as an amateur before a short stint in the It's Showtime promotion where he unsuccessfully challenged Danyo Ilunga for the It's Showtime 95MAX Championship in June 2012. Later that year, he joined Glory.

Jordan Watson is an English Muay Thai kickboxer who competes in the middleweight division. A powerful kicker, Watson began training in Muay Thai at six years old with Richard Smith at Bad Company, Leeds, UK and first came to prominence when he reached the final of the K-1 UK MAX Tournament 2007 Pain & Glory at nineteen. He won the ISKA World Super Welterweight Muay Thai Championship in 2010 and then found further recognition the following year by finishing as runner-up on The Challenger Muay Thai reality television show. He began fighting for Glory in 2012. He is the first ever and current Yokkao -70 kg champion.

Caley Reece is a retired Australian Muay Thai kickboxer who competed in the featherweight and lightweight divisions. A successful competitor at both amateur and professional levels, Reece came to prominence by winning state and national titles in her native Australia before going on to take six World Championships. Reece won a silver medal at the 2010 World Combat Games. She holds a notable victory over current Lion Fight Featherweight Champion and Glory Super Bantamweight Champion Tiffany van Soest.

Oléna "Lena" Serhíyivna Ovchýnnikova is a Ukrainian kickboxer and mixed martial artist who competes in the featherweight division in kickboxing and the flyweight division in MMA.

He is former WKA, WMF, WKBF and PK-1 Muay Thai World Champion, as well as former WBC Muaythai USA Champion, WMC and Lumpinee Stadium title contender. In 2012, he competed in the Emmy nominated Thailand VS Challenger TV Series. Washington received worldwide attention for being one of the first successful foreigners to compete in Lethwei in Myanmar.
