Christy Giles

Christy Giles was an Irish soccer player during the 1920s and 1930s. He was also known as "Dickie".

Giles played for Bohemian FC and Shelbourne FC amongst others during his career in the League of Ireland. He made his debut for Bohs in the game that won them the 1929/30 league title against Bray Unknowns on 28 December 1929. [1] He would later manage Drumcondra F.C. [2]

His son Johnny would go on to win numerous medals with Leeds United and captain and manage the Irish national team. His grandsons Chris and Michael would both play in the League of Ireland as well.

He played as a senior for the FAI XI and as an amateur for the IFA XI. Horlacher died from pneumonia at the age of 33.

Gary Richard Deegan is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for League of Ireland Premier Division club Drogheda United. Beginning his career in his native Ireland, he played in the Scottish Premiership for Hibernian and various clubs in all three divisions of the English Football League.

The 1929 Aciéries d'Angleur Tournoi, also known as the 1929 Tournoi d'Été de Liège, was an international football tournament hosted in Liège, Belgium. It was won by the subsequent 1929–30 League of Ireland champions, Bohemians. The tournament is notable in Republic of Ireland football history as the only occasion, to date, that a League of Ireland team has won a European trophy. In addition to Bohemians, three Belgian teams - Standard Liège, R.F.C. Tilleur-Saint-Nicolas and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise - also took part.

Christopher Joseph Giles was a Republic of Ireland soccer international player, who was capped once for the Republic of Ireland at senior level, at home to Norway in November 1950.
