Chua Enlai (born 25 November 1979) is a Singaporean actor, comedian and host, best known for his work on the Mediacorp Channel 5 sitcom The Noose .

Early life

Chua was born in Singapore and raised in New Zealand. He lived in New Zealand for 12 years before moving back to Singapore. [2] He has also expressed an interest in singing, having joined the Singapore Armed Forces Choir.[ citation needed ]

Career

Chua has worked on over 30 theatre productions with groups such as Wild Rice!, Toy Factory, Spell#7, SRT, TheatreWorks, The Necessary Stage and Action Theatre. [3] On television, Chua is known for his roles as B.B.See (See Beh Biang) and Jacques Ooi in the Mediacorp Channel 5 sitcom The Noose . Chua has worked with Krishen Jit on several productions, including Squeeze & Squeezability, Plunge and The Visit of the Tai Tai.

In 2011, Chua starred as a platoon commander in The Ghosts Must Be Crazy , a two-part comedy horror film directed by Mark Lee and Boris Boo. [4] Chua has also made a cameo as a police officer in the comedy movie Taxi! Taxi! , directed by Kelvin Sng and starring Gurmit Singh and Mark Lee.

Chua is also a member of the Association of Singapore Actors. In 2013, Chua expressed an interest in moving to more dramatic roles. [5]

Despite his over the top acting and slapstick brand of humour, Chua has managed to find much success in the local market.

Chua is currently managed by FLY Entertainment and is currently the ambassador for HealthHub's campaign.

<i>Greedy Ghost</i> 2012 Singaporean film

Greedy Ghost is a Singaporean comedy horror film and the third film in the Singapore Ghost franchise, the first was Where Got Ghost?, and the second being The Ghosts Must Be Crazy, the cast differs, though, directed and written by Boris Boo. The film is executive produced by local funnyman Mark Lee, stars Kang Kang, Henry Thia, Brendan Yuen and Jesseca Liu, and is about the greed of a worker at a funeral parlour causing him to see actual ghosts. The film is Lee's very first attempt as an executive producer and is also the inaugural time in which his talent company, Galaxy Entertainment, is funding a movie. Officially opened in cinemas on 16 August 2012 in Singapore, and on 26 July in Malaysia, filming commenced and took place in the latter.

<i>Taxi! Taxi!</i> (2013 film) 2013 Singaporean film

Taxi! Taxi! is a 2013 Singaporean comedy film based on the 2010 work Diary Of A Taxi Driver by Cai Mingjie, said to be "Singapore's most well-educated taxi-driver". Directed by Kelvin Sng and produced by Chan Pui Yin and Chan Yan Yan for SIMF Management, the film stars Gurmit Singh, Mark Lee and YouTube personality Chua Jin Sen, better known by his online handle "Dr. Jia Jia". It is Chua's professional film debut. The film follows two fellow taxi-drivers' quest for self-discovery. Distributed by Golden Village Pictures, the film was commercially released in Singapore on 3 January 2013 and slated for a 24 January 2013 release in Malaysia. This film also marks the second on-screen pairing of Singh and Lee after One Leg Kicking, which was released on 14 November 2001. The comedy duo also collaborated again later in the year where they both starred in the movie known as Everybody's Business, which would mark their third collaboration and was released on 5 December 2013.

Starring an ensemble cast, the film follows various characters from different backgrounds confessing to their wrongdoings and revealing their biggest secrets just 72 hours from what is believed to be "Judgement Day". It was released on April 18, 2013. Judgement Day marks John Cheng's final feature film role before his death on January 21, 2013.
