Chumped was an American pop punk band based in Brooklyn, New York, United States. [1] The band formed in 2012, and released two extended plays before releasing their sole LP, Teenage Retirement , in 2014 on Anchorless Records. The band announced an "indefinite hiatus" in 2015 and performed their final show in February 2016.

History

Pyle, Johnson and Frelly moved to New York City from Monument, Colorado, where Pyle met New Jersey resident Doug McKeever while working at the Fort Greene farmers market. [2] The band released their debut, self-titled EP in October 2013 on Anchorless Records. Dan Ozzi wrote in Vice that it was "the best pop-punk debut you will hear all year," [3] and Melissa Fossum dubbed it the best album of 2013 in her submission to the Pazz & Jop that year. [4] During this time, Chumped shared the stage with bands such as Iron Chic, Cayetana, Lee Hartney Sex Drive, Benny The Jet Rodriguez, Elway, Modern Baseball, and Saves the Day during a surprise late-night performance [5] of Through Being Cool in September 2013 at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn.

That's the Thing is Like... was released in September 2014, which featured "Hot 97 Summer Jam", the first single from their forthcoming LP Teenage Retirement. [6] It coincided with a performance at the Riot Fest in Chicago alongside Weezer, Slayer, NOFX, The Get Up Kids, Lemuria and many more. [6] [7] Chumped released their debut full-length album Teenage Retirement on November 18, 2014 (Anchorless Records), [1] titled after the band some members played in prior to Chumped's formation. The album's sound has been compared to that of Superchunk, [8] Nirvana, [9] and Slingshot Dakota. [10] A music video for "December is the Longest Month" was released in December 2014. [11] In November the band embarked on a month-long headlining tour. [12] They have also played support to bands such as Pup.

In February 2015, Chumped toured Europe and the UK. Also In February 2015, Joel Tannenbaum (Plow United, Ex Friends) and Mikey Erg (The Ergs!, The Dopamines) formed a new project called The Rentiers which features Anika Pyle (Chumped) and Tyler Pursel (Goddamnit, Gym Class Heroes). [13] Their debut EP Here Is A List Of Things That Exist will be released on March 24, 2015 via Square of Opposition and Death to False Hope, and can be streamed in its entirety via SoundCloud. Chumped toured with Andrew Jackson Jihad, The Smith Street Band, and Jeff Rosenstock on their full United States tour during Spring 2015, [6] followed by supporting The Menzingers for three weeks in June 2015. [14]

Chumped announced its indefinite hiatus its social media accounts in October 2015, initially choosing to play one last show in Gainesville, Florida, on November 1. [15] Andrew Unterberger at Spin considered the announcement "an unexpectedly abrupt end one of the most promising young careers in DIY punk." [16] The band played their final show on February 6, 2016 in Brooklyn with Jeff Rosenstock, Adult Dude and Chris Gethard's Smiths tribute band. [17]

Lemuria was an American rock band formed in 2004 and originally based in Buffalo, New York. After a series of singles and EPs, Lemuria released albums between 2007 and 2017, and toured both the U.S. and internationally. The band's most recent effort, "Recreational Hate", was recorded by four-time Grammy award-winning producer/engineer Chris Shaw and released on the band's own record label, Turbo Worldwide, licensed through Asian Man Records in the U.S. and Big Scary Monsters in the U.K. The album was announced December 11, 2017, and was simultaneously received by many of the band's fans as a result of a "secret LP" placed for sale on their website months prior. "Recreational Hate" was made available digitally on December 2017, with physical copies released in February 2018.

The Ergs! are an American punk rock band formed in 2000 in South Amboy, New Jersey, by three high school friends: drummer/lead vocalist Mikey Erg, guitarist/vocalist Jeff Erg, and bassist Joey Erg. Through touring and recording the Ergs! became recognized on a national and international level, touring and playing with such noted acts as The Descendents, The Bouncing Souls, Lifetime, Less Than Jake, The Loved Ones, The Gaslight Anthem, Dillinger Four, None More Black, The Explosion, Municipal Waste, Lemuria, and more. They have appeared at a number of festivals including Riot Fest, Insubordination Fest, and The Fest, the latter of which the band played four consecutive years, including as a headlining act in 2008, and making a fifth appearance as a headlining reunion act in 2016.

Worry is the second solo album by American rock musician Jeff Rosenstock, released on October 14, 2016 by SideOneDummy Records. Released over a year after his debut solo album We Cool?, Worry was recorded in April and May 2016 at a house in Stinson Beach, California. Much of the album was written shortly after Rosenstock's band's gear was stolen while on tour in 2015. Worry saw the former Bomb the Music Industry! and The Arrogant Sons of Bitches frontman achieve his greatest critical success, with numerous placements on year-end lists and previously unseen media exposure. The album addresses themes including urban gentrification, economic inequality and police brutality in the United States.

Katie Ellen are an American punk band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They were formed in 2015 by Anika Pyle and Dan Frelly after the dissolution of their previous band Chumped. They have released a 7" single, an EP and an album, Cowgirl Blues in 2017, all on Lauren Records.
