Ciara Gibson-Byrne (born 3 December 1992) is a British-Spanish water polo player playing as a right-wing. [1]
Born in Barcelona, Spain, to British parents she began playing water polo aged 11. [1] Gibson-Byrne made her debut for the British team as a 17-year-old in 2010 and has played for CN Mataró in the División de Honor de Waterpolo and for the City of Manchester club based in the Manchester Aquatics Centre. She played in the World League for the GB team in 2010, the World University Games in 2011 and was a member of the team which qualified for the 2012 European Championships, the first GB team to enter the games for 15 years. She scored in every game, finishing joint top British scorer on seven. [1]
In 2012, as the youngest member of the team, she was selected to represent Great Britain in the 2012 London Olympics, the first ever Olympic GB women's water polo team. [2] She also represented Great Britain at the 2013 World Championships [3] and at the 2014 European Championships in Budapest, being the highest goal scorer of her team with 10 goals. [4]
She started her career in 2006, in CN Mataró. In 2010, she moved to Manchester to join Great Britain. She then returned to CN Mataró in 2012.
Brenda Villa is an American accomplished water polo player. She is the most decorated athlete in the world of women’s water polo. Villa was named Female Water Polo Player of the Decade for 2000-2009 by the FINA Aquatics World Magazine. She is one of four female players who competed in water polo at four Olympics; and one of two female athletes who won four Olympic medals in water polo. She is a leading goalscorer in Olympic water polo history, with 31 goals. In 2018, she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame and the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame.

Péter Biros is a Hungarian former water polo player, who played on the gold medal squads at the 2000 Summer Olympics, 2004 Summer Olympics and 2008 Summer Olympics, which makes him one of six male athletes who won three Olympic gold medals in water polo. He also competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Katy Sexton, MBE is a former Olympic swimmer from Great Britain. She became the first British swimmer to win a World Championship title, when she won the Women's 200m Back at the 2003 World Championships. Andrija Prlainović is a Serbian professional water polo player widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever. He was a member of the Serbia men's national water polo teams that won bronze medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and gold medals in 2016 and 2020. He also held the world title in 2009 and 2015 and the European title in 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018. In 2011, he won the LEN Euroleague with VK Partizan and in 2013 with Red Star Belgrade, where he was one of the best scorers.
Mlađan Janović is a Montenegrin water polo player. He currently plays for AN Brescia and he is a long-standing member of the Montenegrin national water polo team. He was part of the Montenegro national team that was crowned European Champion at the 2008 European Championship in Málaga.
Catherine Gibson, later known by her married name Catherine Brown, was a Scottish swimmer. During a 16-year career she won three European Championships medals and a bronze medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics, Britain's sole swimming trophy in the home-based Games. In 2008, she was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame.

Robyn Nicholls is a British water polo player. She competed for Great Britain in the women's tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics. This was the first ever Olympic GB women's water polo team.
Chloe Wilcox is a British water polo player. She competed for Great Britain in the women's tournament at the 2012 Summer Olympics. This was the first ever Olympic GB women's water polo team. She also represented Great Britain at the 2013 World Championships. She has played for the Spanish club CN Mataró in the División de Honor de Waterpolo and the Balmain Tigers, Sydney, Australia. She is currently working at Manchester Met University in the High Performance Sports Team.
