Citizen Mani is an Indian actor who works in Tamil-language films. He has acted in 200 films and television serials. [1] He directed and acted in a film, Perunali, in 2019. [1]

Career

Mani left his village for Chennai to pursue a career in acting. He played a role as a tea master in Citizen (2001). After the film's success, Mani added the moniker 'Citizen' to his stage name. Citizen enabled him to get comedic roles in several films including Anniyan (2005) and Aaru (2005). He made his directorial debut with Perunali (2019). [1] [2] [3] [4]

It stars Suriya in the lead role as Aarumugam (Aaru) alongside Trisha, Vadivelu, Kalabhavan Mani and Ashish Vidyarthi. The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Priyan and V. T. Vijayan respectively. Aaru released on 9 December 2005 and was not well received by critics, but became a commercial success.

Mappillai (transl. Son-in-law) is a 1989 Indian Tamil-language masala film directed by Rajasekhar, starring Rajinikanth, Srividya and Amala. It is a remake of the 1989 Telugu film Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu, the Tamil version was produced by Geetha Arts, and Chiranjeevi who played the lead role in the original Telugu version made a special appearance in this film. The film was released on 28 October 1989, and ran for 200+ days and became a blockbuster. The film was remade in Tamil with the same title in 2011.
