CityFleet Networks, also known as CityFleet, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-based ComfortDelGro that operates coach services under the brand Westbus UK, as well as taxi services in a number of UK cities under the brands ComCab, CityFleet Business and Comfort Executive. [1] [2]

It was initially set up in July 2001 as a joint venture between Singapore's Delgro Corporation (later ComfortDelGro) (51%) and Australia-based Cabcharge Australia (49%). [3] [4] In Australia, a similar joint venture between the two companies, known as ComfortDelGro Cabcharge (CDC), would later be set up in 2005 to purchase the Westbus Group from National Express, which included Westbus Australia and Westbus UK. Westbus UK was reorganised to be under CityFleet, and continued to operate independently from the Westbus in Australia.

In June 2017, Cabcharge sold its 49% stake to ComfortDelGro. [5] [6] Earlier that year, ComfortDelGro Cabcharge also became wholly owned by ComfortDelGro and renamed ComfortDelGro Australia. [7]

Westbus UK

In 1986, Westbus Australia purchased ADP Travel Services, Hounslow and Swinards Coaches, Ashford and operated them as Westbus UK. [8] [9]

The coach business of Armchair Passenger Transport, a bus and coach operation purchased by ComfortDelGro subsidiary Metroline in 2004, was amalgamated into Westbus UK in 2006. [10] [11]

Westbus UK, along with Westbus Australia, was purchased by ComfortDelGro Cabcharge in 2005. [9] Westbus UK was reorganised under CityFleet Networks, and continues to operate independently from the Westbus in Australia (now defunct) till this day, despite bearing the latter's name, old logo and livery.

Taxi services

ComCab, also known as Computer Cab, operates taxi account, booking and dispatch services in London, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Liverpool, and operates a fleet of 6,300 radio taxis and private hire vehicles providing a service to local business and private customers. [12] [13] [14] It was first established in 1974. [15] CityFleet acquired Merseyside Radio Meter Cabs Ltd (better known as Merseycabs) in October 2008 and absorbed it into the Comcab business. [16] In April 2018, CityFleet acquired Dial-a-cab, which is based in London. [17] This would give a total fleet of 3000 taxis in the UK.

Comfort Executive offers executive car chauffeur services, as well as business transport. It was originally formed in 1974 as Flightlink International, and joined ComfortDelGro in 2006. [18]

CityFleet also operates CityFleet Business.

Armchair Passenger Transport was a bus and coach charter operator in London.

Metroline London bus operator

Metroline is a bus company operating services in Greater London and south Hertfordshire. It is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Corporation and operates services under contract to Transport for London. As at March 2021, the fleet consisted of 1,532 buses, making it the third largest London Buses operator. Operations are split between two registered companies, Metroline Travel Limited and Metroline West Limited.

CDC Melbourne

CDC Melbourne is a bus operator in Melbourne, Australia. It operates 55 bus routes under contract to Public Transport Victoria. It is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia.

CDC Victoria

CDC Victoria is a transport company which operates in Victoria and is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia. It was renamed from Kefford Corporation, which was acquired by ComfortDelGro Cabcharge in February 2009.

Westbus

Westbus was an Australian bus and coach operator that operated bus services in Western Sydney from 1955 until October 2013. Founded by the Bosnjak family, it later became a subsidiary of National Express and later ComfortDelGro Cabcharge.

Hillsbus

Hillsbus is an Australian bus operator who operates bus services in the Hills District of Sydney. Founded in 2004 when National Express merged its Glenorie Bus Company and Westbus subsidiaries, it is today part of ComfortDelGro Australia.

Jim Bosnjak is a Croatian-Australian businessman who rose to prominence as the chairman of Westbus, Australia's largest privately owned bus operator. Since selling his Westbus stake in 2005, Bosnjak has maintained a high profile as chairman of the Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board.

Thorpes was an English bus operator. It operated services under contract to Transport for London.

ComfortDelGro Australia

ComfortDelGro Australia is a major Australian public transport company. Founded in October 2005 as ComfortDelGro Cabcharge, a joint venture between Singapore-based ComfortDelGro (51%) and Australian Cabcharge (49%), today it is a fully owned subsidiary of ComfortDelGro.

Qcity Transit

Qcity Transit, formerly Deane's Buslines, is an Australian bus operator which provides services within the Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra region of New South Wales as well as services from Queanbeyan to nearby Canberra and Bungendore. It is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia.

The Taxi Industry Inquiry or the Fels Inquiry was an inquiry commissioned in 2011 into the taxi industry and taxi services in Victoria, Australia, by the Taxi Services Commission. The inquiry was headed by Professor Allan Fels assisted by Dr David Cousins.

CDC Queensland, formerly Buslink Queensland, is an Australian bus operator in the Gladstone, Rockhampton and Sunshine Coast regions of Queensland. It is a subsidiary of ComfortDelGro Australia.

Harris Park Transport

Harris Park Transport was an Australian bus company operating services in the Hills District and Southern suburbs of Sydney.

Sydney, Australia is served by a number of bus operators, with ComfortDelGro Australia the largest operator in New South Wales as of September 2018 when the company took-over Forest Coach Lines. Other major operators include Busways, Transdev and Transit Systems. Most services are provided as part of the city's integrated public transport system, with routes, fares, service levels, fleet specifications and customer service standards determined by Transport for NSW. A small number of services operate outside of this network.

A2B Australia Australian public company

A2B Australia is an Australian public company which was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in December 1999 and is an ASX 200 company. The company was founded by Reg Kermode. In 1976, the company established Cabcharge, an account payment system to provide a way to pay for taxi fares by non-cash means, which today is the sole provider of the in-taxi service.

Hunter Valley Buses is an Australian bus operator who operates bus, coach and charter services in the Central Coast and Hunter regions of New South Wales. Previously known as Blue Ribbon, it was one of the first companies to be bought by ComfortDelGro Cabcharge in 2005, now ComfortDelGro Australia.
