The City of Bacoor Government Center, formerly Bacoor Government Center or Bacoor City Government Center, is a complex that serves as the seat of government of Bacoor City, Cavite, Philippines. It is where its city hall is located.

History

The city government of Bacoor was previously housed at the old Municipal Hall of Bacoor in Barangay Tabing Dagat which could no longer accommodate needs of the local government units. [2] [3]

On March 2, 2012, the groundbreaking for a new government center was made. The government facility which has a 11,200 square metres (121,000 sq ft) of floor area, was built on a 2 hectares (4.9 acres) lot donated by Senator Manny Villar and Narcimiano Gawaran of the Addas Development Corporation. The three storey building was also built as a green building and completion of the building was scheduled to 2013, at the time of the groundbreaking. [2]

The city hall building, housed within the Bacoor Government Center complex, was inaugurated on September 29, 2015, in line with the city's 344th founding anniversary celebration led by then Mayor Strike B. Revilla (who also became representative of Cavite's 2nd congressional district and retook his old post in 2022). The compound also houses other government offices such as the satellite branches of the National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Statistics Authority, Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. Upon reassuming the mayorship in 2022, Revilla renamed the complex as City of Bacoor Government Center (CBGC) to avert confusion as the acronym BGC for its seat of government is often mistaken to the more popular BGC, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

The complex also houses the buildings of the City Health Office and national government agencies. A mostly basketball gymnasium named after Strike Revilla is located within the compound which served as the homecourt of Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League team the Bacoor City Strikers, as well as the city's command center for fire, police, and traffic. Service and business centers of Meralco, PLDT and Bayad Center and kiosks from Smart and Sun and some food outlets (carinderias) are also located there. [5]

Local elections were held in Cavite on May 9, 2016, as part of the 2016 general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town mayor, vice mayor and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor and representatives for the seven districts of Cavite. Originally, incumbent Governor Jonvic Remulla was set running for his final term under Partido Magdalo and supported by the Estrada-Binay-led United Nationalist Alliance along with Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla, however, he later dropped out and was replaced by his brother Jesus Crispin Remulla, who ran solo instead.

Local elections were held in Bacoor on May 9, 2016, within the Philippine general election. The voters will elect for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, the vice mayor, the lone district representative, the two provincial board members for Cavite, and the twelve councilors, six in each of the city's two local legislative districts.

The mayor of Bacoor is the head of the executive branch of city government of Bacoor, a first-class urban component city in the province of Cavite, Philippines. Like all local government heads in the Philippines, the mayor is elected via popular vote, and may not be elected for a fourth consecutive term. In case of death, resignation or incapacity, the vice mayor becomes the mayor. The present office was established in 1908 during the American colonial period after the reconstitution of Bacoor in 1906 from Imus, succeeding the Spanish-era offices of the gobernadorcillo and capitán municipal of Bacoor. Twenty-one individuals have held this position since its formation.

The Bacoor City Strikers were a Filipino professional basketball team, based in Bacoor, Cavite. The team last competed in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and played their home games at Strike Gymnasium.

Local elections were held in Bacoor on May 9, 2022, within the Philippine general election. Registered voters of the city will be electing candidates for the following elective local posts: the mayor, the vice mayor, the lone district representative, the two provincial board members for Cavite's second district, and the twelve councilors, six in each of the city's two local legislative districts.
