TV5 News and Current Affairs, also known on-air as News5 (formerly ABC News and Public Affairs and TV5 News and Public Affairs and later TV5 News and Information), is the news and current affairs division of the Philippine media company TV5 Network Inc. It is headquartered at the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Philippines.
News5 generates news, infotainment, and entertainment output for TV5's media assets including its namesake network, RPTV, and other television stations, radio through the 105.9 True FM network, cable television through One News and One PH, internationally through Kapatid Channel, AksyonTV International, and news websites news5.com.ph and InterAksyon (part of the PhilStar Group). Luchi Cruz-Valdes served as News5 and Public Affairs department chief since 2009 until her retirement on September 30, 2024. [1]
News5 set a number of firsts in news reporting in the country. These include the use of Live-Pack and a virtual news set, the first news FM station (105.9 True FM) and, prior to December 2013, the first and only 24-hour Filipino language free TV news channel (AksyonTV) along with the first English-language business news channel (Bloomberg TV Philippines) since October 5, 2015, prior to its launching in full broadcast, which is owned by Bloomberg L.P. in partnership with Bloomberg Television and Cignal. It is also the first news organization to shoot and produce its newscasts in high-definition (HD) in April 2015 and the first digital (online)-only news video channel thru News5 Digital (formerly News5 Everywhere), which was launched on June 28, 2017.
Wanted sa Radyo is a public affairs show that airs on Monday to Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm (PST) on 105.9 True FM with a live simulcast on television via One PH and True TV and online via livestreaming on the "Raffy Tulfo in Action" YouTube channel and Facebook page. It is hosted by Senator Raffy Tulfo, alongside Sharee Roman. Whenever Tulfo is absent from the show mostly due to his duties as a senator, he is filled in by his daughter Maricel Tulfo-Tungol, his son-in-law Atty. Gareth Tungol, his co-parent-in-law Atty. Danilo Tungol, Atty. Blessie Abad, Atty. Gabriel Ilaya, Atty. Ina Magpale, Atty. Gail Dela Cruz, Atty. Joren Tan, Atty. Freddie Villamor, Atty. Pau Cruz, Atty. Paul Castillo, Atty. Grace Lee is a South Korean-born Filipino film distributor, businesswoman, former television host and former radio disc jockey. She is one of a few Korean expatriates to appear prominently in Philippine television, other notable expatriates are Sandara Park, Ryan Bang and Sam Oh. Aksyon (transl. Action) was a Philippine television news broadcasting show aired on TV5. Originally anchored by Paolo Bediones, Erwin Tulfo and Cheryl Cosim, it premiered on April 5, 2010, on the network's evening line up replacing TEN: The Evening News. The show concluded on March 13, 2020. Luchi Cruz-Valdes and Ed Lingao served as the final anchors. It was replaced by Frontline Pilipinas in its timeslot.
