Oakland County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is part of the metropolitan Detroit area, located northwest of the city. As of the 2020 Census, its population was 1,274,395, making it the second-most populous county in Michigan, behind neighboring Wayne County. It is the largest county in the United States without a city of 100,000 residents. The county seat is Pontiac. The county was founded in 1819 and organized in 1820.

Churchill High School, named after Winston Churchill, is one of the four main public high schools in the city of Livonia, Michigan, a western suburb of Detroit. The school was created in 1968 as an add-on to the other high schools in Livonia in response to the population boom that the city saw at the time. The first school year (1968–69), a sophomore class attended classes at nearby Franklin High School. Beginning in the 1969–70 school year, classes were then held in the new building with a junior and sophomore class. The first graduating class graduated in June 1971. The school is home to the MSC program as well as the Creative and Performing Arts program (CAPA). It also has a wide variety of athletics. The Girls' Cross-Country team finished second in the state of Michigan in 2006, and the Girls' Varsity Volleyball team won the 2007 state championship. The Livonia Career Technical Center is across the street, providing all Livonia Public School students the opportunity to engage in many hands-on activities.
The Walled Lake Consolidated School District is a school district with its headquarters in the Educational Services Center in Walled Lake, Michigan in Greater Detroit. The district has 12 elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools which serve over 14,000 children.

As of the 2020–2021 school year, the district serves 8,995 students. It provides services for students in Farmington, Farmington Hills, and a portion of West Bloomfield. The district has a total staff of 1,380, making it the second largest employer in the Farmington-Farmington Hills area.
Brenda Lawrence is an American politician who served as the U.S. representative from Michigan's 14th congressional district from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, Lawrence served as mayor of Southfield, Michigan, from 2001 to 2015, and was the party's nominee for Oakland County executive in 2008 and for lieutenant governor in 2010. Her district covers most of eastern Detroit, including downtown, and stretches west to take in portions of Oakland County, including Farmington Hills, Pontiac, and Lawrence's home in Southfield.
Vincent "Vince" Gregory is a politician from the state of Michigan. From 2011 to 2019, he represented the 11th Senate district in the Michigan Senate. The district, which is located in southern Oakland County, includes Southfield, Farmington Hills, Farmington, Ferndale and Oak Park.
The Oak Park School District is a school district headquartered in Oak Park, Michigan in Metro Detroit. The district serves most of Oak Park, portions of Southfield, and half of Royal Oak Township.
The Japanese School of Detroit (JSD) is a Saturday-only Japanese supplementary educational school in Metro Detroit. It is often called "Ringo Kai." As of December 2011 it has almost 800 students. The school office is located in Novi Meadows Elementary School, which is the class location of the preschool and elementary school levels. Middle and high school classes are held at Novi High School.
In 2004, Metro Detroit had one of the largest settlements of Middle Eastern people, including Arabs and Chaldo-Assyrians in the United States. As of 2007 about 300,000 people in Southeast Michigan traced their descent from the Middle East. Dearborn's sizeable Arab community consists largely of Lebanese people who immigrated for jobs in the auto industry in the 1920s, and of more recent Yemenis and Iraqis. In 2010 the four Metro Detroit counties had at least 200,000 people of Middle Eastern origin, excluding Jews. Bobby Ghosh of TIME said that some estimates gave much larger numbers. From 1990 to 2000 the percentage of people speaking Arabic in the home increased by 106% in Wayne County, 99.5% in Macomb County, and 41% in Oakland County.
Hinoki International School was a two-way Japanese-English language immersion elementary school in Livonia, Michigan in Metro Detroit which opened in 2010 as a charter school. It closed in 2015 before a planned opening of a new Farmington Hills, Michigan campus.
Jeremy Allen Moss is an American politician from Michigan currently representing the 7th State Senate District, which includes Farmington, Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Hazel Park, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Madison Heights, Oak Park, Pleasant Ridge, Royal Oak Township, and Southfield. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the first openly LGBT person to serve as president pro tempore of the Michigan Senate as well as the first openly gay man and second openly LGBT person to serve in a statewide office in Michigan. Moss previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2014 - 2018, and remains the youngest-ever member of the Southfield City Council.
