Classic Case was an American rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, formed in 2002. [1]
Vocalist/guitarist Jared Draughon and guitarist Mitchell Marlow formed the band in the early months of 2002 in their hometown of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. They had played in a punk band together before but had been separated for two years, with Marlow living and studying in Brooklyn, NY. Marlow persuaded Draughon to relocate the band to Brooklyn where they would begin rehearsing with Marlow's former Sound of Speed drummer, Stephan Linde. Shortly afterward, they recruited bassist Eric Mendelson, a cohort from New Jersey, who rounded out the initial lineup of the band.
The four recorded and released an EP dubbed It's Been Business Doing Pleasure With You. The band then played with Puddle of Mudd and Orgy to Taking Back Sunday and The Used.
In 2004, original drummer Stephan Linde, was replaced by his longtime friend and fellow Long Islander, Durijah Lang (Saves the Day, Glassjaw, The Stryder). After several months of touring and writing, the band delved into a Manhattan recording studio for 3 months to record their debut full-length, Dress to Depress.
Classic Case spent 2005 with the addition of former Beloved vocalist/guitarist Josh Moore being brought into the fold, and the band packing up and returning to its birthplace in North Carolina. Dress to Depress was released October 18, 2005, on Help/Fiddler Records. Fiddler Records dissolved shortly after the record was released.
Their follow-up record, Losing at Life, was produced by the lead singer and guitarist of the band Helmet, Page Hamilton. The album was released on Fearless Records on February 20, 2007.
As of mid-January, Mitchell Marlow was no longer listed as a guitarist on the band's Myspace page. Classic Case has since announced publicly that though Mitchell is no longer in Classic Case, it is an amicable split and they are still good friends. He later joined fellow North Carolina band He Is Legend and also played guitar for Filter. In addition, Durijah Lang is currently playing with Glassjaw and Saves the Day.
Jared Draughon is currently performing in Must Be the Holy Ghost. Must Be the Holy Ghost signed with Cardigan Records in January 2014. Must Be the Holy Ghost released his debut album, Get Off, on April 1, 2014. Must Be The Holy Ghost was direct support for The XX for their album release show at Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mott the Hoople were a British rock band formed in Hereford, Herefordshire in 1969. Originally named the Doc Thomas Group, the band changed their name after signing with Island Records in 1969. The band released albums at the beginning of the 1970s but failed to find any success. On the verge of breaking up, the band were encouraged by David Bowie to stay together. Bowie wrote their glam-style signature song "All the Young Dudes" for them, which became their first hit in 1972. Bowie subsequently produced their album of the same name, which added to their success.

Roadrunner Records is a Dutch–American record label focused on heavy metal and hard rock music. Founded in the Netherlands in 1980, it is now a division of Warner Music Group and is based in New York City. Formerly seen as one of the most powerful independent metal labels of the 1980s and 1990s, it would eventually become a massive host of metal acts; most seen in Roadrunner United and the following live concert. Since then, the label had continued to put out major releases, though by the 2020s, most major acts had left the label and it had been acquired by Warner Brothers, being relegated to something much smaller than before.
Glassjaw is an American post-hardcore band from Hempstead, New York. It was formed in 1993 by vocalist Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck. The band is known for their intense live shows, as well as their frequent line-up changes. Despite their limited commercial success and small discography, they are considered to be one of the most influential bands in the progression of the underground music scene in the eastern United States and United Kingdom for the post-hardcore genre.
Tobin Sprout is an American visual artist, musician, songwriter, and children's author. He is best known as a former member of the indie rock band Guided by Voices. He served as a secondary major songwriter and guitarist of the group from 1987 to 1997 and again from 2010 to 2014.

He Is Legend is an American alternative metal band from Wilmington, North Carolina. It was founded in 2003 by high school friends. The band's current lineup is frontman Schuylar Croom, guitarist Adam Tanbouz, bassist Matty Williams, and drummer Jesse Shelley. Originally known for their "blistering though surprisingly buoyant hybrid of metalcore and screamo", they left their metalcore influences behind with the 2014 album Heavy Fruit, which introduced elements of sludge metal and stoner rock on a foundation of hard rock.
Sorry About Dresden was an indie rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The band formed in 1997 and was signed to Saddle Creek Records. Sorry About Dresden has released three full-length albums, an EP, and has appeared on several compilations.
Fearless Records is an American independent record label that was founded in 1994. Fearless is based in Culver City, California, and is best known for its early pop punk moments captured in the Fearless Flush Sampler and Punk Bites releases, as well as additional releases by bands such as Bigwig and Dynamite Boy; and later Sugarcult; Plain White T's; The Aquabats; Amely; and post-hardcore releases by At the Drive-In and Anatomy of a Ghost. However, the label has experimented with different styles in recent years. Acts such as Blessthefall, Bloodywood, The Word Alive, Ice Nine Kills, Mayday Parade, Pierce The Veil, Starset, The Pretty Reckless, Underoath and The Color Morale have showcased post-hardcore, metalcore, hard rock and alternative rock bands that have emerged in recent years. Fearless Records' releases were distributed in the US by RED Distribution, but after Concord Music Group's purchase of the label in 2015, it is now distributed by Universal Music Group worldwide.
Kiss My Ass: Classic Kiss Regrooved is a 1994 tribute album, featuring a variety of artists covering songs by the American rock band Kiss. Released to coincide with Kiss' 20th anniversary, the album was certified gold by the RIAA, and spent 13 weeks on the charts. Cover Design and Art Direction by Mitchell Kanner.
The Stryder was an American band hailing from Long Island, New York, United States. The band was formed by Peter Toh and Scottie Redix in 1999 after their previous project, Yearly, disbanded following the departure of bassist Eben D'amico, who left to join Saves the Day. They added a vocalist and bassist, John Johansen and Nick Wendel respectively. They released a 7" on Elkion Records titled "The Hits Just Keep on Comin" and shortly after signed a deal to Equal Vision Records and released their debut album Masquerade in the Key of Crime in the mid-2000. The band toured extensively and began writing new material in 2001. They added former Glassjaw drummer Durijah Lang, and moved Scottie Redix to guitar and backing vocals. In mid-2001 the band parted ways with vocalist John Johansen. Scottie stated in a 2019 interview that the split from Johansen was amicable and due to the change in creative direction the band was going in. 2002 saw the release of "Jungle City Twitch". Debuting a new sound, The Stryder continued to tour the country in support of the new release. In 2003/2004, Elkion Records released Savor The Danger! which contained a collection of old demos and the two songs from the 7" previously released on the label. Toh released his first solo EP "Cleopatra" in 2004 on Elkion Records. Durijah moved on to become the drummer of Classic Case and in 2007, became Pete Parada's replacement in Saves The Day. In 2006, Toh then went on to start an internet TV/new media company, Hidden Track TV with Adam Schleichkorn, and released a solo EP titled "Shoes of a Beast".
Fiddler Records was a small independent record label serving as the launch pad for several artists seminal to the pop, punk and emo genres. Starting as the brainchild of 16-year-old entrepreneur Amy Fleisher Madden in 1996, the label became well known for its early releases from marquee artists Dashboard Confessional and New Found Glory. Over the course of 10 years, Fiddler Records developed a steady roster of successful artists such as The Bled, The Higher, Recover, Juliette & The Licks, Name Taken and Classic Case.

Telescreen was an American rock band formed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 2007. Following the breakup of Classic Case and Codeseven, members of the two bands created a new musical project. Taking their name from George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, the band combines samples and effects with progressive space rock. Their live performances featured the quintet playing behind a giant screen, which alternately featured messages and art film imagery. The lighting and projection was timed so that at certain points the band is visible behind the screen, while at others they were obscured by the images.
Artist vs. Poet was an American pop punk band from Fort Worth, Texas, United States, formed in late 2007 by Jason Dean, Craig Calloway, Jeff Olsen, Patrick Rigden, Joe Kirkland, Joe Westbrook, and Tarcy Thomason. After many changes in the band, Artist vs Poet is made up of Joe Kirkland, on vocals, guitar and keyboards, and Jason Dean, on bass and drums. Kirkland was also a contestant in the third season of the American NBC reality show The Voice.
