Claudio Vena is an Italian-born composer for film and television, now living and working in Canada. [1]
Vena has written the score for the feature film, Silver Man and co-written another score for Boy Meets Girl. Two of his arrangements also were featured in the film Only You. He has scored numerous documentaries. He was presented with a Gemini [2] award for Best Original Music Score for a Documentary Program or Series, for his score to T.O. in the series 24. [3] Vena has also written scores for Johnny Lombardi, The Great Communicator, a documentary about the founder of CHIN radio, as well as an original score for the CBC Radio Drama, The Wanderers. From 2001 till 2005, his music was used as the Logo music of the CBC TV News programmes The National, Canada Now & The main network news. He has composed scores for theatre productions including original scores for Romeo & Juliet, directed by Vikki Anderson for Canadian Stage and Peter Pan, [4] [5] directed by Tim Carroll, in 2010 as well as Hamlet, directed by Adrian Noble, in 2008 for The Stratford Shakespeare Festival. For the 2013 season of The Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Claudio wrote a Victorian score for Romeo & Juliet. [6] In 2000 he wrote a score for the play Words In The Dark, written by Italian playwright Paolo Pupo.
His first major debut as conductor and arranger was with the leading baritone of the Met, Louis Quilico, when he recorded a CD of Italian art songs called Recordi d'Italia. He was the Music Director/conductor for the Huronia Symphony between 1991 - 95 as well as holding posts as Assistant Conductor for The Hart House Orchestra between 1987-1997 and the Toronto production of Miss Saigon between 1993-1995. He also founded the Hart House String Ensemble. He has written symphony shows for soprano Mary Lou Fallis, tenor Robert Pilon, guitarist Robert Michaels and Quartetto Gelato.
His solo CDs released are, La Vita E Un Circo, Peter Pan Soundtrack and Romeo & Juliet. He cofounded the group Quartetto Gelato. [7] During his 10 year tenure with QG, Claudio won NPR's Debut Artist of the Year and received 2 Juno nominations. The first 3 recordings of QG, Quartetto Gelato, Rustic Chivalry and Aria Fresca. [8] As a producer, he has produced 3 CDs for Catherine Wilson's Ensemble Vivant as well as having a hand in the production of QG's first 3 CDs.
Vena was the electric violist/mandolinist with the progressive rock group FM. He has appeared on stage as a violinist/violist/accordionist with Mark Masri, The Canadian Tenors, Justin Hines, Alfie Zappacosta, [9] Jim Cuddy, and many other performers. [5] [10]
Roméo et Juliette is a seven-movement symphonie dramatique for orchestra and three choruses, with vocal solos, by French composer Hector Berlioz. Émile Deschamps wrote its libretto with Shakespeare's play as his base. The work was completed in 1839 and first performed on 24 November of that year, but it was modified before its first publication, in 1847, and modified again for the 2ème Édition of 1857, today's reference. It bears the catalogue numbers Op. 17 and H. 79. Regarded as one of Berlioz's finest achievements, Roméo et Juliette is also among his most original in form and his most comprehensive and detailed to follow a program. The vocal forces are used in the 1st, 5th and 7th movements.
The Stratford Festival is a theatre festival which runs from April to October in the city of Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Founded by local journalist Tom Patterson in 1952, the festival was formerly known as the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, the Shakespeare Festival and the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. A 15-year veteran of the Stratford Festival, he is known for his Gemini-winning turn as Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the CBC miniseries Trudeau (2002), his portrayal of Glenn Gould in Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould (1993), and for playing Detective Martin Ward in Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006) and its sequel Bon Cop, Bad Cop 2 (2017).

Romeo and Juliet, Op. 64, is a ballet by Sergei Prokofiev based on William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. First composed in 1935, it was substantially revised for its Soviet premiere in early 1940. Prokofiev made from the ballet three orchestral suites and a suite for solo piano.

They usually play without musical scores and their performances include elements of humour and dance.
Only You is a 1994 American romantic comedy film directed by Norman Jewison and starring Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., and Bonnie Hunt. Written by Diane Drake and Malia Scotch Marmo (uncredited), the film is about a young woman whose search for the man she believes to be her soulmate leads her to Italy where she meets her destiny. Upon its release the film received mixed reviews, but critics praised Tomei and Downey's performances.

Derek Gleeson is an Irish/American musician. Born in Dublin, Ireland. He is currently the music director and conductor of the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra and has been the conductor at the Anna Livia Dublin International Opera Festival. Since 2012 Gleeson is also music director & conductor of the Rachmaninov Festival Orchestra. Since January 2016 Gleeson is Principal Guest Conductor or The Harbin Symphony Orchestra, Harbin, China. He also composes musical scores for film and television and of symphonic music for the concert hall.

Radio and Juliet is an hour long ballet setup in 2005 for the Slovenian company Ballet Maribor in Slovenia. It was directed by Romanian dancer and choreographer Edward Clug. The ballet is a rendition of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet set music of Radiohead. Since 2005 Radio and Juliet has guested in the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, Korea, Israel, Canada, United States, Russia, Ukraine, Brazil, Serbia and Croatia. It has also been set on the companies of Bucharest National Theater and Kiev National Opera. On 15 September 2012, the 100th performance was celebrated on the old stage of the Maribor Opera house. The ballet premiered in the United States in 2008 at the Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts at the Byham Theater.
Christopher Plummer (1929–2021) was a Canadian film, television and stage actor. On stage, Plummer's most notable roles were that of Cyrano de Bergerac in Cyrano (1974) and as John Barrymore in Barrymore. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for these two roles. On film, Plummer is known for portraying Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music (1965).

He has also worked as a stuntman and martial artist. He is currently a member of the award-winning Canadian new classical music ensemble Quartetto Gelato, and the oboe and accordion duo JoyRide with accordionist Charles Thomas Cozens.
