Clay Hill (born Clay Squire on May 17, 1976, in Hamilton, Ontario) is a professional box lacrosse player. He was a member of the National Lacrosse League's Buffalo Bandits for seven seasons, where he won a NLL Championship in 2008. [2] He also played from 1997 until 2012 as a member of the Mann Cup-eligible Six Nations Chiefs. [1] Now, late in his career, he plays in the semi-professional Canadian Lacrosse League during the winter [3] and the OLA Senior B Lacrosse League in the summer. [4]

Career

Hill joined the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse in 2002. [5] He was originally selected by the Bandits of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in the 4th Round of the 1997 MILL Entry Draft but did not sign with the team until December 7, 2004.[ citation needed ] He played his first NLL game in 2005.

In 2008, Hill played all 16 regular season games and all 3 playoff games as he, with the Buffalo Bandits, won the NLL Championship. [6]

In 2011, Hill left the National Lacrosse League. He played his final season as a member of the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse in 2012, competing for the Mann Cup Senior A championship of Canada. [7] He and the Chiefs made it to the league finals before falling to the Peterborough Lakers. [8] Completing his seventh season with the bandits, Hill has accumulated 61 points over the course of 99 games and played in a cumulative total of 10 playoff games for the Buffalo Bandits prior to retiring from the team. [9]

In 2012, Hill joined the Ohsweken Demons of the Canadian Lacrosse League. [10] He and the Demons would go on to win the inaugural CLax Championship. [11] For his play, the league named him to the league's second all-star team. [12]

Family

Clay Hill was raised in the Six Nations (a First Nations Reserve), in one of the Iroquois Nations. The main reserve where Clay Hill is born is found between the cities of Brantford, Caledonia, and Hagersville. The land includes around 18,000 hectares of land. [13] In the summer, Hill travels through the Toronto area to look for job opportunities, particularly steel construction, to support his family when he is in offseason. [9]

Barrie Blizzard were a Canadian professional indoor lacrosse team that played in the Canadian Lacrosse League. The team is played its home games at the Barrie Molson Centre.

Robert "Buff" McCready was a Canadian professional and amateur box lacrosse goaltender. McCready was also a professional lacrosse coach in the National Lacrosse League. He won the Mann Cup National Canadian Major championship and was named 1971 most valuable player. McCready was considered an elite goaltender in his time and is credited as turning the goaltending position into an offensive threat as well as the last line of defense. He is a member of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

Alexander Kedoh Hill is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Six Nations of the Grand River, Hill began his career with the hometown Six Nations Arrows of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League, with whom he played from 2009 to 2011. Hill was eventually called up to the Six Nations Chiefs, and was a member of the 2013 and 2014 Mann Cup winning Chiefs club.

Rich Kilgour is a retired professional lacrosse player and current coach for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League. He joined the Bandits in 1992 as a training camp invitee, and spent the next 18 years as a defensive specialist with the Bandits, 12 of those as team captain. His teams made the playoffs 13 times, played in eight championship games, and won four.

The Six Nations Rivermen are a Senior box lacrosse team. The team played in the City of Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada and participate in the OLA Senior B Lacrosse League. They are the defending 2015 Presidents Cup National Champions and two-time defending Ontario Lacrosse Association Senior B Champions.

Mitchell Jones is a Canadian professional box lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Jones also played for the Chrome Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League.

Ethan O'Connor is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. Born in Milton, Ontario, O'Connor began his minor lacrosse career playing for the Milton Mavericks. He was drafted in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse Draft to the Burlington Chiefs where was named a two time team captain and earned First Team All League honors for his final season. During his junior career, O'Connor also played for the Oakville Buzz and Halton Hills Bulldogs of the OLA Junior B Lacrosse League. O'Connor was drafted in the first round of the 2013 NLL Entry Draft by the Toronto Rock, playing in all but one game his rookie season. After one season with the Rock, he was traded to the Minnesota Swarm where he was a contributing member of their 2017 NLL Championship winning team. Prior to the 2018-19 season, O'Connor was traded to his current team, the Bandits. O'Connor also played division one lacrosse for Hobart College.
