The Clifford W. Holmes Award is presented annually near Big Bear City, California at the RTMC Astronomy Expo to an individual for a significant contribution to popularizing astronomy. [1]

Established in 1978 by Richard Poremba as the Astronomy for America Award, it was renamed for Clifford W. Holmes, the founder of the Riverside Telescope Makers Conference (RTMC) in 1980.

Michigan Sports Hall of Fame Hall of Fame

The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame is a Hall of Fame to honor Michigan sports athletes, coaches and contributors. It was organized in 1954 by Michigan Lieutenant Governor Philip Hart, Michigan State University athletic director Biggie Munn, president of the Greater Michigan Foundation Donald Weeks, general manager of the Detroit Lions W. Nicholas Kerbawy and George Alderton of the Lansing State Journal. The inaugural class was inducted in 1955. After Nick Kerbawy the President was Cyndy Winkler, who was the owner of the Mt. Clemens Race Track. Scott Lesher is its current chairman.

The American Institute of Physics (AIP) instituted their Science Writing Award to "promote effective science communication in print and broadcast media in order to improve the general public's appreciation of physics, astronomy, and allied science fields." The winner receives $3000, and an engraved Windsor Chair. The awards is given in three broad categories: 1) science writing, 2) work intended for children, and 3) work done in new media. The AIP stopped issuing awards to three categories: 1) work by a professional journalist 2) work by a scientist, and 3) broadcast media

The Northwest Open is golf tournament played in the Pacific Northwest, open to both amateur and professional golfers. It is organized by the Pacific Northwest section of the PGA of America. It has been played annually since 1905 at a variety of courses.

The American Cinema Editors (ACE) gives one or more Career Achievement Awards each year. The first awards were given in 1988.
