Climate Defiance is a climate movement organization in the United States which uses direct action protests to demand stronger climate change mitigation policies. [2] [3] The organization mostly focuses on protesting Democratic officials, because they hold the White House and Senate. [4]

Climate Defiance disrupted the 2023 White House Correspondents Dinner, [1] an event for Exxon CEO Darren Woods, [5] and the speaking events of several powerful Democratic officials, including Tommy Beaudreau, [3] Pete Buttigieg, [6] Jennifer Granholm, [3] [7] Amy Klobuchar, [8] Joe Manchin, [9] Jerome Powell, [10] [11] [12] and Ali Zaidi. [13] After these actions, the group received a private meeting with White House adviser John Podesta. [9] [14]

Climate Defiance is supported by Margaret Klein Salamon's Climate Emergency Fund, [13] which provides about half of Climate Defiance's budget. [2]

Although considered a lower-tier candidate at launch, his campaign later gained prominence, winning the most delegates in the Iowa caucuses and tying with Bernie Sanders for the most delegates in the New Hampshire primary.

Extinction Rebellion (XR) is an international "non-violent civil disobedience" movement carrying out demonstrations worldwide to highlight governments' inaction on climate change. Since 2018, Extinction Rebellion has taken a variety of actions in Europe, the US, and rapidly elsewhere in the world, to urge political and economic forces to take action amid the climate crisis. Although, their non-violent disobedience protests are an effort to generate attention around environmental issues, XR activists have become known for civil disobedience and disruptive tactics.

Margaret Klein Salamon is an clinical psychologist and climate activist in the United States. Salamon is a leader of the Climate Emergency Fund, co-founder and leader of The Climate Mobilization, and leader of Climate Awakening. In 2014, she co-founded The Climate Mobilization. She is an advocate for an "all hands on deck" mobilization against climate change and has defended controversial tactics and unlawful activity of Just Stop Oil, which Climate Emergency Fund finances.

Just Stop Oil is a British environmental activist group primarily focused on the issue of human-caused climate change. The group aims to convince the British government to commit to ending new fossil fuel licensing and production using civil resistance, direct action, traffic obstruction, and vandalism. The group was founded in February 2022 and began protesting at English oil terminals in April 2022. The group has received criticism for its methods of activism.

ShutdownDC is an activist organization in the Washington metropolitan area. ShutdownDC formed originally in 2019 as a coalition of climate activists concerned with the climate crisis, aiming to snarl traffic in the city to demand action on the Green New Deal, and other climate-related issues.

The Last Generation is a group of climate change activists using forms of direct action which is mostly active in Germany, France, Italy, UK and Poland. Protests in Germany were mainly focused on car usage and traffic policy, while those in Italy focused on cultural assets.

The Climate Emergency Fund (CEF) is a Los Angeles based nonprofit organization that supports climate change activist groups involved in civil disobedience. It was founded in 2019 by filmmaker Rory Kennedy and Getty family heiress Aileen Getty.

Fix Our House is an American nonprofit electoral reform organization that advocates for instituting proportional representation(PR) in the House of Representatives. The organization views PR as a solution to polarization, gerrymandering, safe and uncontested seats, and hyper-partisan primaries. The group has ties to the anti-filibuster Fix Our Senate.
