Clouds FM is a Swahili-language radio station headquartered in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and owned by Clouds Media Group (CMG). It was co-founded by parners and long term friends, Joseph Kusaga and Ruge Mutahaba in 1998 under the then Clouds Entertainment Limited, now CMG. [1]

History

Clouds FM was founded on December 3, 1999, as a transition from Mawingu Disco, an entertainment company that was organizing events and music concerts in Dar es Salaam. It quickly gained popularity due to its support of Bongoflava music genre which at the time was perceived as a music genre for rebel youth. As of September 2023, Clouds FM is available in more than 20 regions in Tanzania. [2]

Iringa is a city in Tanzania with a population of 202,490 and situated at a latitude of 7.77°S and longitude of 35.69°E. The name is derived from the Hehe word lilinga, meaning fort. Iringa is the administrative capital of Iringa Region. Iringa Municipal Council is the administrative designation of the Municipality of Iringa. Iringa has been one of the coldest regions in Tanzania due to its geographical location but that has attracted a lot of tourists from colder regions abroad especially Western Europe. Iringa also hosts one of Africa’s largest national parks the Ruaha National Park.

Bongo Flava is a nickname for Tanzanian music. The genre was developed in the 1990s, mainly as a derivative of American hip hop and traditional Tanzanian styles such as taarab and dansi. Lyrics are usually in Swahili or English.

Tanzanian Hip-hop, which is sometimes referred to Bongo Flava by many outside of Tanzania's hip hop community, encompasses a large variety of different sounds, but it is particularly known for heavy synth riffs and an incorporation of Tanzanian pop.

Mwanza Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions, covering a total land area of 25,233 km2 (9,743 sq mi). The region is comparable in size to the combined land area of the nation state of North Macedonia. Ubungo District, officially the, Ubungo Municipal Council is one of five districts of the Dar es Salaam Region of Tanzania. The Kinondoni District and Kibaha of the Pwani Region border the district to the north; the Kisarawe District of Pwani Region borders it to the west; and the Ilala District borders the it to the south and east. The district covers an area of 269.4 km2 (104.0 sq mi). The district is comparable in size to the land area of St. Kitts and Nevis. The administrative seat is Kwembe. The district is home to the University of Dar es Salaam, The Magufuli Bus Terminal, the largest in the country, and Pande Game Reserve the largest protected land area in Dar es Salaam Region. CRDB Bank Plc is a commercial bank in Tanzania. It is licensed by the Bank of Tanzania, the central bank and national banking regulator. As of September 2022, CRDB Bank was the largest commercial bank in Tanzania.

The Tanzanian Championship is the second tier of league football in Tanzania. The league is made up of sixteen teams that play thirty rounds, home and away.The league was formed in 1930.

Zena Yusuf Mohammed, known by her stage name Shilole, is a Tanzanian musician and actress. She specializes in R&B, Zouk, and new generation Tanzania music popularly known as Bongo Fleva. Shilole is considered as one of the top female artists in Tanzania; her works has been nominated 3 times in KTMA, Tanzania's top music awards. She has also recorded with a number of artists including Mr Camera and Selebobo (Nigeria). Ruge Mutahaba was a Tanzanian bureaucrat. He served as Director of Strategy and Programs Development at Clouds Media Group. In 2012 he had his first child Russell Mutahaba with Tanzanian presenter Zamaradi Mketema and in 2015 his second Koku Shubira Mutahaba.
