Club Hoy were an Australian Pop rock group formed in 1989. The group released one studio album, Thursday's Fortune in 1991.
Club Hoy formed in Sydney, in 1989, consisting of Penny Flanagan and Julia Richardson. The duo released their debut single "On and On," in 1990. Late that year, additional musicians Bernie Hayes (bass) and Vincent Sheehan (drums) joined the band.
In early 1991, they released their second single, the double A-side "Da Da Da Da"/"Green and Blue". In September 1991, they released "House on Fire", as the lead single from their debut album, Thursday's Fortune. Another singles was released from Thursday's Fortune in 1992.
In 1992, two EP were released, with Trumpets being promoted with the track "You Promised, You Said". In 1992, Club Hoy provided vocals and also appeared in Grant McLennan’s (formerly of Go Betweens, Jack Frost) music video for “Surround Me”. In 1993, Club Hoy disbanded. Penny Flanagan went on to pursue a successful solo career, while Julia Richardson and Bernie Hayes formed a new group, the Troublemakers.

Shortly after the release of their second single "Spring Love", Wright departed from the group and was replaced with Margo Urban. The group's second studio album We Can't Go Wrong was released in 1989, producing the #8 hit single of the same name.

EMF are an English alternative rock band from Cinderford, Gloucestershire, who came to prominence at the beginning of the 1990s. During their initial eight-year run, from 1989 to 1997, the band released three studio albums before a hiatus. Their first single, "Unbelievable", reached number 3 on the UK Singles Chart, and was a number 1 hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their debut album, Schubert Dip, went to number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. In April 2022, EMF released their first album of new material in 27 years, Go Go Sapiens.
The Clouds are an indie rock band from Sydney, Australia formed in December 1989. The core of the group consisted of frontwomen Jodi Phillis and Patricia "Trish" Young. The line-up of The Clouds has changed several times with different drummers and lead guitarists. The Clouds' music is distinguished by rapid and unusual chord changes, creative bass guitar, and Phillis and Young's vocal harmonies. They released 4 albums and numerous EPs and singles before breaking up in 1997. They reformed in 2011.

The act has gone through a number of lineup changes over the years; they achieved the most success whilst fronted by singer Tania Evans and rapper Jay Supreme. Their 1993 single "Mr. Vain" was a number-one hit in eleven European countries, and the act claims to have sold more than 10 million records worldwide.
Falling Joys are an Australian alternative rock band formed in Canberra in 1985. The original line-up included Suzie Higgie on lead vocals and guitar and Stuart G. Robertson on bass guitar. By the end of 1988 Higgie and Robertson, now on guitar, were joined by Pat Hayes on bass guitar and vocals, and Pete Velzen on drums. They have released three albums, Wish List (1990), Psychohum (1992) and Aerial (1993). Both the latter two albums reached the ARIA Albums Chart Top 50. They disbanded in 1995 but reunited in 2011 and, again, in July 2016.

", "Who's in the House" and "Rok da House". The latter, having been recorded in 1986, is one of the earliest examples of hip house and most likely the first song of the genre. Hip house is a subgenre of house music which features rap vocals performed over a house rhythm track.
The Tin Lids were an Australian children's pop group formed in 1990 with Mahalia, Eliza-Jane 'E.J.', Jackie and Elly-May Barnes all on vocals. They are the four children of Jane and Jimmy Barnes. The group released three albums: Hey Rudolph!, which peaked at No. 6 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Snakes & Ladders, which was nominated for Best Children's Album at the 1993 ARIA Awards, and Dinosaur Dreaming (1993). "Shameless" is a song written by American singer Billy Joel and recorded on his 1989 album Storm Front. His version peaked at No. 40 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks charts. Two years later, the song was covered by country music artist Garth Brooks on his third studio album, 1991's Ropin' the Wind. Brooks' rendering of the song was his seventh No. 1 hit on the Billboard country charts in late 1991. It also reached No. 71 on the UK Singles Chart.
Tall Tales and True were an Australian rock band formed in 1983 by Matthew de la Hunty on lead vocals and guitar and Paul Miskin on bass guitar, backing vocals and guitar. They released three studio albums, Shiver (1989), Revenge! and Tilt (1995). They disbanded in 1995.
Freaked Out Flower Children were an Australian band which formed in 1991 with actress and TV presenter, Sophie Lee, on saxophone and vocals. Other members were Gumpy Phillips on guitar and vocals; Tricky J on synthesiser; Fiona Ruttelle on backing vocals; and Nicole Love on backing vocals. They played 1960s-style flower power music. Their debut single "Spill the Wine" – a cover version of Eric Burdon and War's 1970 hit – reached No. 31 on the ARIA Singles Chart in 1992. In December 1991 the group issued their debut album, Love In, on Virgin Records, which was "full of syncopated beats and breezy melodies". A second single, "Beautiful People" was released in March 1992. However the group's "retro-cabaret and day-glo focus ... did little to foster a sense of longevity". They disbanded in 1993.
Redhead Kingpin and the F.B.I. was an American hip hop/new jack swing group best known for its debut single and highest-charting song, "Do the Right Thing" from its album A Shade of Red, which peaked at No. 13 on the UK Singles Chart in 1989. The song was featured on the soundtrack of Wes Craven's horror film The People Under the Stairs.

FireHouse is an American glam metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia, in 1984 under the name White Heat. The band has released 7 studio albums, a live album, 2 video albums, 11 singles and 9 music videos. FireHouse signed a deal with Epic Records in 1989 and released their self-titled debut the following year. It reached double platinum in the States and reached gold in other countries. The record spawned 4 singles and launched the group into their sophomore effort, which reached platinum in the US. Hold Your Fire spawned 3 singles. Their third release, aptly titled 3, spawned their final 2 singles. They would go on to release an acoustic album, a live album, 3 albums that held no chart positions, a greatest hits compilation and a re-recorded album of their hits. C.J. Snare has stated they have sold over 7 million worldwide albums. C.J. Snare died on April 5, 2024 from cardiac arrest after suffering from colon cancer.
