Colegio Nacional de la Capital "Gral. Bernardino Caballero" (or simply CNC) is a public high school in Asuncion, Paraguay. The school is one of the most prestigious in Paraguay. Many personalities have studied there.
The CNC was established on January 4, 1877, and is called after General Bernardino Caballero, hero of the Paraguayan War and former president of the country. [1]
It was located where the present day Asunción Escalada National Highschool is located. In 1950 it moved to the property where it is located at present, on Eusebio Ayala Avenue.
The first teacher appointed was Professor Gaston Riviere to French class. Then the following teachers were appointed: Eugenio Bertoin, Dr. José María Pérez, Pascual Vía, Fr. Facundo Bienes y Girón, Carlos Duval, Rodney Croskey, Cristóbal Campos y Sánchez, Domingo Jiménez, and Leopoldo Gómez de Terán.
The CNC was the support for the creation of the Escuela de Derecho (School of Law), today known as Facultad de Derecho, UNA, the expenses of the maintenance and empowerment of this school were paid by the CNC.
From its inception until 2004 the school was only for men, from 2004 to date the school is coed. [1]

Juan Antonio Escurra was the President of Paraguay from 1902 to 1904. He was born on May 6, 1859 in Caraguatay, Cordillera department. He was married with Josefa M. Rojas, woman from a traditional family, who later would be the First Lady of the nation. His family worked growing cotton, corn and fruits. After Uriarte and Egusquiza, he was the third president with Basque last name.

José Alfredo Bozzano Baglietto was a military engineer and senior officer of the Paraguayan Navy who designed the gunboats Paraguay and Humaitá that were used during the Chaco War in the key role of armed transport ships. In the course of the war, he was the manager of the factories which produced weapons, ammunition, trucks and other equipment for the Paraguayan army.
