The Patriot League is a collegiate athletic conference comprising private institutions of higher education and two United States service academies based in the Northeastern United States. Except for the Ivy League, it is the most selective group of higher education institutions in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I and has a very high student-athlete graduation rate for both the NCAA graduation success rate and the federal graduation rate.

As of the 2023–24 NCAA season, the Leathernecks compete in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Loyola Greyhounds men's basketball team represents Loyola University Maryland in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I competition. It became a member of the Patriot League along with the university's other intercollegiate athletic programs on July 1, 2013. Home games are played at Reitz Arena. Loyola has appeared twice in the NCAA Tournament, most recently in 2012.

The Raiders, were led by tenth-year head coach Matt Langel, play their home games at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, New York as members of the Patriot League. With the creation of mini-divisions to cut down on travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they played in the North Division. They finished the season 14-2, 11-1 in Patriot League Play to finish as champions of the North Division. They defeated Boston University, Bucknell, and Loyola (MD) to be champions of the Patriot League tournament. They received the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the first round to Arkansas.

As the No. 1 seed, they defeated Bucknell, Lehigh, and Navy to win the Patriot League tournament. They received the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive year. As the No. 14 seed in the Midwest Region, they lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Wisconsin.
William Henry Rayman is an American-Israeli basketball player who plays the power forward position for Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroLeague. He played college basketball for Colgate, for whom in his senior year he was Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and All-Patriot League First Team.
