Colin Grant (born 21 July 1944) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a forward.

Playing career

Born in Edinburgh and raised in Bo'ness, in 1963, Grant signed for Linlithgow Rose. After a season at the club, in which he scored 55 goals, Grant was signed by Jock Stein for Hibernian. [1] On 21 February 1966, Grant made his debut for Hibs in a 2–1 defeat against rivals Heart of Midlothian in the Scottish Cup. During his time at the club, Grant scored 15 times in 41 appearances in all competitions, including once against Lokomotive Leipzig in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in November 1968. [2]

Following his departure from Hibs, Grant moved to England, signing for Chelmsford City. Whilst at Chelmsford, Grant was employed by the Marconi Company. After four years at Chelmsford, during which he scored 62 goals in 118 appearances in all competitions, Grant returned to Scotland, signing for Highland League club Peterhead, taking up a promotion at the Marconi Company in Scotland in the process. Managerial career

In 1976, whilst still a player, Grant was appointed as Peterhead's first ever manager, after a selection committee was in charge of team affairs. Grant remained as manager until 1980. During the 1980s, whilst living in Ellon, Grant managed Ellon United. [5]

In 2004, Grant joined Aberdeen as head of academy scouting. During his time at Aberdeen, the likes of Scott McKenna, Joe Shaughnessy and Calvin Ramsay were signed by the club. [4] In 2014, Grant stepped down from his role at the club. [5]

Season 2006–07 was a mixed season for Hibernian; their league form suffered from extended cup runs, and they eventually finished sixth. The reward for their cup form was a first trophy in 16 years, thrashing Kilmarnock 5–1 in the final to lift the CIS Cup. Hibs were knocked out of the Scottish Cup in a semi-final replay by Dunfermline.

John Britton Weir was a Scottish professional football player, most notable for scoring a hat-trick for Celtic on the final day of the 1947–48 season that prevented the Glasgow club from being relegated.

Season 2010–11 for Hibernian was their 12th consecutive season of play in the Scottish Premier League. It was the first season played in the redeveloped Easter Road stadium, with its capacity increased to over 20,000 for the first time since it became an all-seater stadium in the early 1990s. The SPL season began on 15 August 2010 with a 3–2 win at Motherwell. Hibs competed in the UEFA Europa League, losing 6–2 on aggregate to Slovenian club NK Maribor. They also lost at the first stage of competition in the Scottish League Cup, losing 3–1 at Kilmarnock. Those cup defeats and a poor start to the league season led to manager John Hughes leaving by mutual consent in early October. Colin Calderwood was appointed as the new manager, but struggled to make any sort of impression, as they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Ayr United and fell into a relegation battle. A winning streak after the January transfer window meant any danger was quickly averted, but the team still finished in the bottom six.

Daniel Handling is a Scottish footballer who plays for Scottish League One side Edinburgh City. Handling has previously played for Hibernian and Dumbarton as well as Berwick Rangers and Raith Rovers on loan.

Season 2011–12 for Hibernian was their 13th consecutive season of play in the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The season began on 24 July with a 2–0 home defeat by Celtic, who eliminated Hibs from the Scottish League Cup. With the club near the bottom of the league, manager Colin Calderwood was sacked and replaced with Pat Fenlon in November. Fenlon made several signings during January that helped the club to avoid relegation from the SPL. Hibs also reached the 2012 Scottish Cup Final, but this was lost 5–1 to local rivals Hearts.
