The Owner

CollabFeature's first multi-director project was a feature film titled, The Owner. The story follows a lost backpack that travels the globe on a journey to find its owner, a man named "MacGuffin." As the story progresses, the viewer learn details about the mysterious man to whom the bag belongs. The film brings together a variety of cultures, languages and film styles into a singular narrative plot. [1]

The feature consists of 25 brief segments that are connected by the backpack's journey. Each short film is approximately 2 to 5 minutes long. [2] [3]

With its 28 directors (including the three additional directors[ clarification needed ]), The Owner had more directors than Paris je t'aime , which currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most directors (21) on one film. [4]

The Owner premiered on May 25, 2012 around the world. [5] [6]

Train Station

CollabFeature's second multi-director project was a feature film entitled Train Station, about possibilities and choices. Filmed in 25 countries, 40 filmmakers collaboratively wrote and assembled it via CollabFeature, the world's first Internet collaboration of its kind.

The film follows a single, unnamed character played by 43 different actors from different parts of the world. Every time the character is confronted with a choice, the film cuts to a new actor in a new city. A new director continues the story. The character, who always wears brown, switches ages, genders and nationalities. Every time the Character in Brown reaches the end of a story path, the film backs up to a previous choice and a new director takes us down a different path to explore "what would have happened if..."

Adoor Gopalakrishnan is an Indian film director, script writer, and producer and is regarded as one of the most notable and renowned filmmakers in India. In a career spanning over five decades, Gopalakrishnan has made only 12 feature films to date. His films are made in the Malayalam language and often depict the society and culture of his native state Kerala. The Owner is a multi-director, international feature film that follows a backpack around the world, on its way back to its owner. It is the first film produced by CollabFeature, a group of independent filmmakers from all over the world. Each filmmaker wrote and directed his or her own short segment of the film in his or her own country. The Owner began shooting in spring of 2010. It premiered in theaters around the world on May 25, 2012. CollabFeature was started by Detroit-based filmmaker Marty Shea and web programmer Ian Bonner.

Paresh Mokashi is an Indian filmmaker, producer, actor and Theatre director-producer; working predominantly in Marathi cinema and Marathi theatre. He started working as a backstage worker for theatre and did few minor roles for plays as well as films. Mokashi made his directorial debut for theatre with the Marathi play, Sangeet Debuchya Mulee in 1999. He continued to work for theatre and made his directorial debut for cinema with the 2009 Marathi feature film, Harishchandrachi Factory. Gurvinder Singh is an Indian film director. He is best known for his Punjabi language films Anhe Ghore Da Daan, and Chauthi Koot which premiered at Venice and Cannes Film Festival respectively. Gurvinder is an alumnus of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune from where he studied film-making and graduated in 2001. He travelled extensively through Punjab between 2002 and 2006, living and traveling with folk itinerants, documenting folk ballads and oral narratives. It led to his first documentary 'Pala'. He continued to make short experimental works and documenting arts/artists for the next few years. His latest film is 'Infiltrator' starring Veer Rajwant Singh which is a 15-minute short story in an international omnibus called 'In the same garden'
