Coma is a 2024 British television drama series. Starring Jason Watkins and Jonas Armstrong, it aired on Channel 5 in March 2024.
A family man has an out-of-character confrontation with a gang of local youths and must face the consequences of his actions. [1]
The series was commissioned in October 2023 by Channel 5. It is produced by Roughcut Television and CBS Studios. Written and created by Ben Edwards, the executive producers for Roughcut Television are Alex Smith, Marianna Abbotts and Ash Atalla. The director is Michael Samuels. [2]
The series was filmed in the Hungarian city Budapest. [3] The cast is led by Jason Watkins and Claire Skinner, playing a married couple. [4]
The four-part series was broadcast on consecutive nights on Channel 5 from 18 March 2024. [5] According to BARB 7-day data, the series averaged 3.2 million viewers across its four episodes.
Lucy Mangan in The Guardian gave the series four stars and described it as "excruciatingly tense in its authenticity". [6] Anita Singh in The Daily Telegraph praised the casting, saying that Watkins was "entirely believable as a mild-mannered everyman pushed to his limits.” [7] Carol Midgley in The Times described it as "intensely addictive". William Jonas Armstrong is an Irish-English actor who rose to prominence playing the title character on the BBC's Robin Hood (2006–2009). He has since appeared in miniseries such as Dark Angel (2016), Troy: Fall of a City (2018), The Drowning, Hollington Drive, After the Flood and Coma, and starred as Sean Meredith on the first season of ITV's The Bay (2019). Armstrong won critical acclaim for his portrayal of Barry Bennell in the 2022 television film Floodlights. His feature film credits include Book of Blood (2009), Twenty8k (2012), and Edge of Tomorrow (2014).
Jason Peter Watkins is an English stage, film and television actor. He played the lead role in the two-part drama The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies, for which he won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor. He has also played William Herrick in Being Human, Gavin Strong in Trollied, Simon Harwood in W1A, Gordon Shakespeare in the film series Nativity, British Prime Minister Harold Wilson in Season 3 of The Crown and Detective Sergeant Dodds in McDonald & Dodds.

The Ipcress File is a British cold war spy thriller television series loosely based on the 1962 novel The IPCRESS File by Len Deighton.
