Meghalaya is a state in northeast India. Meghalaya was formed on 21 January 1972 by carving out two districts from the state of Assam:(a) the United Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills and (b) the Garo Hills. Mukul Manda Sangma is an Indian politician and physician who was the 11th Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 2010 to 2018 and is currently leader of the opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly since July 2024.Sangma also served as Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 2009 to 2010,2007 to 2008 and 2005 to 2005.
