Concord is an area of Washington in the metropolitan borough of Tyne and Wear, England. Historically, Concord was part of County Durham, joining the county of Tyne and Wear in 1974, following its creation.
Washington is centrally located, within the city centres of Durham and Newcastle upon Tyne hence, it has close ties to both cities. They are easily accessible by road, and public transport from Concord.
The main street at Concord's centre is Front Street, which comprises several local shops, bars and cafés.
Concord houses the Washington Millennium Centre, situated in The Oval, which provides youth clubs for children and young people, as well as having an outdoor football area and other regular activities.
The village also has a small health centre, the Victoria Health Centre, situated on Victoria Road, near to the bus station.
Neighbouring villages include Albany, Donwell, Usworth, Sulgrave and Follingsby. Nearby industrial estates include Stephenson and Hertburn, as well as the Nissan UK Factory.
Washington School is also nearby, just north of the A1231 road.
Concord Bus Station is served by Go North East's local bus services, with frequent routes running in and around Washington, as well as County Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne and Sunderland. The bus station has six departure stands (lettered A–F), each of which is fitted with seating, next bus information displays, and timetable posters.

In 2011, Census data for the Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council ward of Heworth and Pelaw recorded a total population of 9,100. Until 1974 it was in County Durham.
Eldon Square Bus Station is one of two bus stations serving Newcastle City Centre. It is owned by Newcastle City Council and is managed by Nexus. The new glass-roofed bus station was built adjacent to the old bus station, on a former access road, and is accessible via the new mall.
Haymarket bus station is a bus station located in the Haymarket area of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is situated next to the Haymarket Metro station, by the northern end of Northumberland Street and almost adjacent to Newcastle University.

Washington Galleries Bus Station is located in the town of Washington in Tyne and Wear. The bus station was originally constructed in 1970s, to serve the adjacent Galleries Shopping Centre, which opened in 1974. The bus station was first used in 1972 when service 169 began linking New Washington (Concord) with the new Woolco store.
