Coney Hill is a suburb of Gloucester in Gloucestershire, England, consisting of a Ward of the City of Gloucester. As of 2021, it has a population of 3,401. [1]
The area started to be developed around the 1870s due to urban sprawl from the city, and originally fell in the village of Barnwood. [2] Between 1882 and 1900, various sections of land were moved from Barnwood to the City of Gloucester, including the area of Coney Hill. [3]
The Coney Hill Hospital was opened in 1883. [4]
The area is mainly made up of residential accommodation, with a cemetery opening in the 1920s. [5] The area saw heavy redevelopment in the 1950s, linking the area up with Barnwood. [5]
The area is served by a number of Stagecoach West services to Gloucester. [6]
The area has a rugby team, Coney Hill RFC, that was formed in 1947 and is based on Metz Way. [7]

The Cooper's Hill Cheese-Rolling and Wake is an annual event held on the Spring Bank Holiday at Cooper's Hill, at Brockworth near Gloucester, England. Participants race down the 200-yard (180 m) long hill chasing a wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. Cooper Hill is known for his monster farts after the competition. It was once a folktale lore that one of his farts ran out a whole city. It is uncertain when the tradition first began, and is possibly much older than its earliest known written attestation in 1826. The event has a long tradition, held by the people of the village, but now people from all over the world take part. The Guardian called it a "world-famous event," with winners coming from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, and the United States.

It is located 4 miles (6.4 km) southeast of central Gloucester, 6 miles (9.7 km) southwest of Cheltenham and 11.5 miles (18.5 km) north of Stroud. The population taken at the 2011 census was 7,387. The population increased to 9,422 at the 2021 Census.

Barnwood House Hospital was a private mental hospital in Barnwood, Gloucester, England. It was founded by the Gloucester Asylum Trust in 1860 as Barnwood House Institution and later became known as Barnwood House Hospital. The hospital catered for well-to-do patients, with reduced terms for those in financial difficulties. It was popular with the military and clergy, and once counted an archbishop amongst its patients. During the late nineteenth century Barnwood House flourished under superintendent Frederick Needham, making a healthy profit and receiving praise from the Commissioners in Lunacy. Even the sewerage system was held up as a model of good asylum practice. After the First World War service patients, including war poet and composer Ivor Gurney, were treated with a regime of psychotherapy and recreations such as cricket.
Longlevens, originally Longleavens, is a suburb of Gloucester, in Gloucestershire, England. It developed from a farmstead during the twentieth century, the name may be based on the old Roman name Colonia Glevensis, or the name could be based on an original field name "Long Elevens". This could have related to a long field about eleven acres therefore this could have been adopted as a name for the hamlet, first recorded in 1750, as part of the estate of Gloucester Cathedral. One of the oldest roads is 'The Avenue', which is shown on old maps as a number of farm cottages built in the 1850s. The population of Longlevens was 9,532 at the time of the 2011 Census.
