Conor Gannon (born 6 June 2002) is an Irish tennis player. He has represented his country in the Davis Cup since 2023.

Career

Having won eight junior ITF titles, [1] Gannon was awarded a tennis scholarship to the University of Tennessee in 2020. [2] He switched to the University of Memphis after completing his freshman year. [1]

Gannon received his first call-up to the Ireland Davis Cup team for a tie in Barbados in September 2022 but was not chosen to play. [1] He made his on-court debut in September 2023, during a World Group II tie away against El Salvador, where he defeated César Cruz in the opening singles match and then combined with David O'Hare to overcome Marcelo Arévalo and Lluis Miralles in the doubles as Ireland won 4–1. [3]

In February 2024, he was a member of the Irish team which lost to Austria in the World Group I play-offs in Limerick, playing in the doubles alongside O'Hare in a straight sets defeat to Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler. [4] [5]

Gannon was in the Irish squad which travelled to face Tunisia in World Group II in September 2024, suffering defeats in both his singles matches against Aziz Dougaz and Skander Mansouri, as well as in the doubles, where he partnered Michael Agwi, against Dougaz and Mansouri. [6]

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi is a Pakistani professional tennis player who specialises in doubles. He is the only Pakistani player ever to reach a Grand Slam final, having done so in both men's and mixed doubles at the 2010 US Open, alongside Rohan Bopanna and Květa Peschke respectively. Qureshi has also reached seven further major semifinals across the two disciplines. He reached his career-high doubles ranking of world No. 8 in June 2011, and has won 18 titles on the ATP Tour, including the 2011 Paris Masters and 2013 Miami Open, with Bopanna and Jean-Julien Rojer respectively. Qureshi has also qualified for the ATP Finals in doubles on three occasions.

The 1996 Davis Cup was the 85th edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 124 teams entered the competition, 16 in the World Group, 26 in the Americas Zone, 29 in the Asia/Oceania Zone, and 53 in the Europe/Africa Zone. Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Panama made their first appearances in the tournament.

The Lithuania men's national tennis team represents Lithuania in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Lithuanian Tennis Association.

The 1992 Davis Cup was the 81st edition of the Davis Cup, the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. 93 teams would enter the competition, 16 in the World Group, 21 in the Americas Zone, 23 in the Asia/Oceania Zone, and 33 in the Europe/Africa Zone. Due to the increased number of entries, the tournament was expanded to add a Group III in all zones, with promotion and relegation between it and Group II. Puerto Rico and Qatar made their first appearances in the tournament, and former champions South Africa returned to the tournament for the first time since 1978.

Conor Niland is an Irish former professional tennis player. He was born in Birmingham, England, and grew up in Limerick, Ireland. He attended St. Nessan's National School in Mungret, Limerick, before moving on to Crescent College Comprehensive in Dooradoyle, Limerick. He was the highest ranked Irish tennis player during his career. He played for the Ireland Davis Cup team from 2000 to 2012. He officially announced his retirement from tennis on 12 April 2012 due to a recurring hip injury. In a statement Niland said: "I am today sadly announcing my retirement from professional tennis. I have been suffering from labral tears in both hip cartilages and this has resulted in pain and restricted movement for the past nine months."

Cluskey was, for some time, the highest ranked Irish doubles player. Cluskey retired from professional tennis in November 2015.

David O'Hare is a retired professional Irish tennis player who played mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour. On 24 August 2015 he reached his highest ATP singles ranking of 1438 and on 3 April 2017 reached his highest doubles ranking of 117. O’Hare still plays for the Irish Davis Cup team. He is the coach of the former No. 1 doubles player Joe Salisbury and has had considerable success, overseeing 2 US Open wins, 2 Masters titles and 2 Tour Final wins.

Skander Mansouri is a Tunisian tennis player. He has a career-high ranking by the ATP in doubles of world No. 56, achieved on 11 November 2024, and in singles of No. 238, achieved on 12 December 2022.
