The Conrado Yap-class was a series of ex-South Korean Haksaeng-class patrol boats sold to the Philippine Navy in 1993. [2]
12 of these patrol boats were transferred to the Philippine Navy, and are all retired as of 2018.
The Philippine Navy received 12 fast attack craft patrol vessels (also known as Schoolboy or Seahawk class) from the Republic of Korea in 1993. The ships were sold to the Philippines for a token sum of US$100 [2] each, part of growing relations between the two countries at the time. The initial condition of the vessels was unclear and they subsequently went through various refit programs.
When the vessels were actually commissioned varies from source to source. Many suggest that 10 of the 12 were commissioned on 19 June 1993, while others suggest that eight were commissioned in June 1993 and two more in June 1994. Another source suggests that six were commissioned in 1995 and six more in 1998. In 1998 29 sets of spare parts for the Conrado Yap class were also reportedly delivered. Sources even disagree on whether the first vessel commissioned, BRP Conrado Yap, had the hull number PG-840 or PG-841. All sources agree that PG-845 and PG-852 were utilized for spare parts. That the remaining ships had their armament reorganized and were likely subject to other minor changes and modifications likely led to the confusion. Ships in the Philippine Navy have historically been decommissioned, then later recommissioned out of necessity in different configurations in armament and other equipment.
BRP Conrado Yap (listed as PG-840), BRP Cosme Acosta (PG-843), BRP Nicanor Jimenez (PG-846), and BRP Leon Tadina (PG-848) were reportedly decommissioned on 7 June 2001. [2] Though decommissioned, these ships likely remain in storage either awaiting funds for refit or to be cannibalized for spare parts. Remaining ships were seen with variable armament (as with the Tomas Batillo class, also acquired from the Republic of Korea), and had been refitted with additional electronic equipment such as satellite communication gear and stowage for external fuel drums to extend the vessel's range.

The Balikpapan class is a ship class of eight heavy landing craft. All eight were originally laid down by Walkers Limited for the Australian Army in the early 1970s. A reorganisation of watercraft responsibilities in the Australian military meant the landing craft were to be operated by the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), with seven commissioned directly into RAN service during 1973 and 1974, and lead ship Balikpapan transferred from the army to the navy. During the leadup to the independence of Papua New Guinea in 1975, two of the vessels were transferred to the new Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF).
Chamsuri-class patrol vessels are naval boats that function as patrol boats. These entered service with the Republic of Korea Navy in the 1970s, and have since seen service with three other navies, of which the Philippine Navy is currently the largest import user.
The BRP Rajah Humabon (PS-11) was a former destroyer escort of the United States Navy and a former frigate of the Philippine Navy. She was the last World War II-era destroyer escort/frigate active in her fleet, and one of the oldest active warships in the world, until 15 March 2018 when she was formally decommissioned after 75 years. The BRP Quezon (PS-70) was one of two Rizal class ships in service with the Philippine Navy. She was formerly a USN Auk class minesweeper produced during World War II, and was later on classified as a patrol corvette protecting the vast waters of the Philippines.

BRP Magat Salamat (PS-20) is one of several Miguel Malvar class of patrol corvettes in service with the Philippine Navy. She was originally built as USS Gayety (AM-239), an Admirable-class minesweeper with a similar hull to the PCE-842-class patrol craft produced during World War II. In 1962 she was transferred to South Vietnam for service in the Republic of Vietnam Navy as RVNS Chi Lang II (HQ-08). She was acquired by the Philippine Navy in April 1976 and later on commissioned as Magat Salamat. Along with other ex-World War II veteran ships of the Philippine Navy, she is considered one of the oldest active fighting ships in the world today.
BRP Miguel Malvar (PS-19) is the lead ship of the Miguel Malvar class of corvettes of the Philippine Navy. She was originally built as USS Brattleboro PCE(R)-852, a PCE(R)-848-class rescue patrol craft escort for the United States Navy during World War II. In 1966 she was transferred to South Vietnam for service in the Republic of Vietnam Navy as RVNS Ngọc Hồi (HQ-12). She was acquired by the Philippine Navy in April 1976 and later on commissioned as Miguel Malvar after Miguel Malvar y Carpio. The ship is in active service. Along with other World War II-era ships of the Philippine Navy, Miguel Malvar is one of the oldest active fighting ships in the world today.
BRP Sultan Kudarat (PS-22) was a Miguel Malvar-class corvette of the Philippine Navy. She was originally built as USS PCE-881, a PCE-842-class patrol craft for the United States Navy during World War II. In 1961 she was transferred to South Vietnam for service in the Republic of Vietnam Navy as RVNS Đống Đa II (HQ-07). She was acquired by the Philippine Navy on April 1976, and was commissioned later on as RPS Sultan Kudarat (PS-22). Along with other World War II-era ships of the Philippine Navy, Sultan Kudarat was considered one of the oldest active fighting ships in the world, until her retirement in July 5, 2019.
The BRP Datu Sikatuna (PF-5) was one of the three ex-USN Cannon-class destroyer escorts that served with the Philippine Navy, the others being BRP Datu Kalantiaw (PS-76) and BRP Rajah Humabon (PF-11).
BRP Cebu (PS-28) was a Miguel Malvar-class corvette of the Philippine Navy. She was originally built as USS PCE-881, a PCE-842-class patrol craft for the United States Navy during World War II and patrolled the Alaskan coast during that war. She was decommissioned from the U.S. Navy and transferred to the Philippine Navy in July 1948 and renamed RPS Cebu (E-28) after the Philippine province of the same name. The ship was decommissioned on 1 October 2019. Along with other World War II-era ships of the Philippine Navy, Cebu was considered one of the world's oldest fighting ships during her active service.

Along with other World War II-era ships of the Philippine Navy, Iloilo was considered one of the oldest active fighting ships in the world, being in continuous service for over seven decades.
BRP Emilio Liwanag (PC-118) was a Tomas Batilo class fast attack craft of the Philippine Navy. It was part of the last batch of such craft transferred to the Philippines by the South Korean government in 2006. After 2 years of refurbishing, refitting and upgrade, the ship was commissioned into active service by the Philippine Navy on 15 April 2011, although it was presented to the public as early as May 2010 during the 112th Anniversary of the Philippine Navy.
The Tomas Batilo class was a ship class of eight patrol boats that were previously service of the Philippine Navy. These ships were formerly used by the South Korean Navy as Chamsuri/Wildcat class fast attack crafts. All eight ships have been retired from active service, with two units lost in separate incidents while the rest are in different state of disposal.

Yap was one of the 1,367 Filipino troops comprising the 10th Battalion Combat Team of the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK), one of the five Philippine Army Battalion Combat Team's contingent of United Nations Command forces that fought in the Korean War (1950–1953).
