Congo-Kinshasa competed at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico. It was the first time that the nation was represented at the Olympic Games. Five competitors, all men, took part in two events in the cycling.
The Central African Republic competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States. It had been 16 years since the previous appearance of the nation at the Summer Olympics, when it made its debut at the 1968 Games in Mexico City, Mexico. The Central African Republic was represented by three athletes; marathon runner Adolphe Ambowodé and two boxers, Dieudonné Kossi and Antoine Longoudé. There were no medals won by the trio.

Ion Monea was a Romanian amateur boxer. He then moved up to the light-heavyweight division and won three more medals, at the 1967 and 1969 European championships and 1968 Olympics, losing on all three occasions to Danas Pozniakas. He did not fight Pozniakas in 1968 though, as he had a broken nose from his previous bout and withdrew from the Olympic final.
Antoine Longoudé is a boxer from the Central African Republic. Longoudé competed for his country at the 1984 Summer Olympics as a welterweight. He was defeated by Romanian Rudel Obreja in the first round.
Ionel Constantin is a Romanian sprint canoeist who competed in the mid-1980s. He won two medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold and a silver.
Constantin Alexandru was a light-flyweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Romania who won a silver medal at the 1980 Olympics. He was the world champion in 1978 and 1979 and European champion in 1974–1975 and 1977–1979.

Rudel Obreja was a Romanian boxer and businessman. He competed in the men's welterweight event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Obreja also won four national senior titles, a bronze medal at the 1989 World Amateur Boxing Championships and a silver medal at the European Amateur Boxing Championships. He was the president of the Romanian Boxing Federation between 2004 and 2012. In 2007, he was elected vice president of AIBA, and was the chief technical officer for amateur boxing at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
