Copa Martini & Rossi was the name of a series of friendly football matches between FC Barcelona and several distinguished European teams during the decade of the 1940s. The winner of the game received a silver cup inscribed with the name of the sponsor, the Italian Multinational Martini & Rossi. [1]
The matches took place at Barcelona's Les Corts, usually as the last game of the season, with which homage was given to the retiring players, or as a Christmas season game. This tournament is considered the precursor to the Trofeu Joan Gamper.
This title should not be confused with the Trofeo Martini & Rossi, award that during the same decade was granted to the First Division team with the best goal difference record during the year, and which the FC Barcelona won a record of six times.

Liga Asobal is the premier professional handball league in Spain. It was founded in 1958 with the name of División de Honor, changing its name to the current name in 1990. The Liga ASOBAL, which is played under EHF rules, currently consists of 16 teams, including famous ones like FC Barcelona, Ademar León, Bidasoa and Granollers.
The Joan Gamper Trophy or Joan Gamper Cup is an annual association football exhibition match held in August, before the start of Barcelona's La Liga season, where top division clubs from the world compete against them. The competition is hosted by FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou stadium and is named in honour of Joan Gamper, a founding member, player, and later president of the club. The competition was inaugurated in 1966 by Enric Llaudet, one of Gamper's successors as club president. The trophy itself is an 800-gram (1.8 lb) silver cup with five micrometres of gold finishing, on top of a 10-kilogram (22 lb) marble plinth base.
Enrique Fernández Viola, commonly referred to as Enrique Fernández, was a Uruguayan football player and manager who played for Nacional, Talleres (RE), Independiente, FC Barcelona, Uruguay and the Catalan XI. As a manager, he won two Uruguayan championships with Nacional and La Liga titles with both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Along with Radomir Antic, he is one of only two coaches to have taken charge of both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid and he is the only coach to have won La Liga titles with both. He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Nicolae Simatoc was a Romanian football manager and player. A midfielder, he played for a number of clubs throughout Europe, including Ripensia Timişoara and Carmen București in Romania, Nagyváradi AC in Hungary, Inter Milan and Brescia in Italy, and Barcelona and Real Oviedo in Spain. After retiring as a player he became a coach, and managed Spanish side UE Lleida between 1959 and 1960, and CE Sabadell FC between 1960 and 1961. He then coached Budapest Sydney and Polonia Western Eagles.

Charles William Wallace Midgley was an English footballer who played as a forward for Spanish club FC Barcelona. Along with his younger brother, Percival, he was part of the first great team of FC Barcelona, with whom he scored 105 goals in just 102 matches, although this tally includes goals scored in friendlies and unofficial games.
Manuel "Manolo" Grau Solé was a Spanish athlete and a pioneer of Spanish sport. He was a player and director of FC Barcelona, as well as a prominent gymnast, fencer, and practitioner and disseminator of many other sports. In addition to being one of the first members of FC Barcelona, Solé was also co-founder and vice president of the Barcelona Swimming Club in 1907, founder and president of the Solé Pedestre Club (1909), and owner of the Gimnasio Solé from 1910 until his death.
