Corporate Art Awards

The Corporate Art Awards are the international awards for the best art projects developed by the business world. They were launched in Rome (Italy) in 2016 by pptArt under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Culture and with the support of the General Confederation of Italian Industry and LUISS Business School.

2016 edition

Under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Culture, in 2016 pptArt organized the first edition of the Corporate Art Awards, [1] [2] aimed at recognizing the best collaborations between the Corporate World and the Art World. [3] [4] Out of 80 participating companies from 22 countries, the winners were Banca Intesa Sanpaolo and Deutsche Bank [5] for the best corporate collection, American Express for its international restoration program, Shiseido for the oldest corporate collection in Japan [6] and Piaggio for the social media campaign to support its corporate museum.

The 2016 edition of the Corporate Art Awards was also the occasion for the launch of the Corporate Art Manifesto which was signed by the following artists: John David Mooney, Alexander Evgenievich Ponomarev, Ugo Nespolo, Fernando De Filippi, Stefano Pizzi, etc. [7]

2017 edition

In the 2017 edition, the scope of the Corporate Art Awards was extended to include the Institutional world. The program was then renamed “Mecenati of the XXI century” with the aim to recognize the best art projects supported by institutions and corporations. The winners of the 2017 Institutional Art Awards were: Central Bank of Italy, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Investment Bank, Central Bank of Ecuador, [8] European Parliament, UNOG (United Nations Office at Geneva), etc.

The winners of the 2017 Corporate Art Awards were: Intesa Sanpaolo bank as “Patron of the XXI century”, [9] Borsa Italiana, [10] The Absolut Company, Assicurazioni Generali, Ferragamo, [11] Davidoff, Fiat, [12] etc. The 2017 Awards Ceremony was hosted by the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinal Palace. Intesa Sanpaolo Italian banking group

It was formed through the merger of Banca Intesa and Sanpaolo IMI in 2007, but has a corporate identity stretching back to its first foundation as Istituto Bancario San Paolo di Torino in 1583.

Fondazione Cariplo is a charitable foundation in Milan, Italy. It was created in December 1991 when the Amato law, Law no. 218 of 30 July 1990, came into force. Under this law, saving banks were required to separate into a not-for-profit foundation and a commercial banking arm. The Cassa di Risparmio delle Provincie Lombarde, commonly known as Cariplo, was divided into the Fondazione Cariplo and Cariplo SpA, the bank, which merged with Ambroveneto in 1998.

Gallerie di Piazza Scala

The Gallerie d'Italia - Milano is a modern and contemporary museum in Milan, Italy. Located in Piazza della Scala in the Palazzo Brentani and the Palazzo Anguissola, it hosts 195 artworks from the collections of Fondazione Cariplo with a strong representation of nineteenth century Lombard painters and sculptors, including Antonio Canova and Umberto Boccioni. A new section was opened in the Palazzo della Banca Commerciale Italiana on October 25, 2012 with 189 art works from the twentieth century.

Banco di Napoli

Banco di Napoli S.p.A., among the oldest banks in the world, was an Italian banking subsidiary of Intesa Sanpaolo group, as one of the 6 retail brands other than "Intesa Sanpaolo". It was acquired by the Italian banking group Sanpaolo IMI in 2002 and ceased being an independent bank. In February 2018, Intesa Sanpaolo announced their new business plan, which would retire Banco di Napoli and other brands; the legal person of Banco di Napoli would be absorbed into Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A.

Crédit Agricole Carispezia S.p.A. formerly known as Cassa di Risparmio della Spezia S.p.A., or Carispezia in short, is an Italian savings bank, which is part of Crédit Agricole Italia, the Italian arm of French banking group Crédit Agricole.

Istituto per il Credito Sportivo is an Italian public bank which was under special administration by Banca d'Italia since 2011.

Cassa di Risparmio del Friuli Venezia Giulia S.p.A. known as CariFVG in short, was an Italian savings bank based in Gorizia, Friuli – Venezia Giulia region.

Banca Apulia S.p.A. marketed as BancApulia is an Italian bank incorporated in San Severo, in the Province of Foggia, Apulia region. The main office of the bank was located in Bari, in the centre of Apulia region instead. The bank is the third largest retail and corporate banking conglomerate in Italy, behind Intesa Sanpaolo and UniCredit. The bank had dual headquarters in Verona and Milan respectively.

Luca Desiata Italian CEO, latinist and art curator

Luca Desiata is an Italian manager, Latinist and art curator. He was the CEO of SOGIN between 2016 and 2019. He is the founder and editor-in-chief of the magazine of Latin crosswords Hebdomada Aenigmatum and of the magazine of crosswords in Ancient Greek Onomata Kechiasmena. He is the curator of the Corporate Art Awards.

Banca Nuova S.p.A. was an Italian bank headquartered in Palermo, Sicily island. The bank served the island mostly, with branches in Calabria region; It was a subsidiary of Banca Popolare di Vicenza (BPVi), in turn owned by Atlante, a banking sector owned bail-out fund from 2016 to mid-2017. In June 2017 the bank was acquired by Intesa Sanpaolo by another government-funded bail-out, and a plan to absorb the bank was announced in October 2017.

Cassa di Risparmio di Verona, Vicenza, Belluno e Ancona known as Cariverona in short, was an Italian savings bank headquartered in Verona. In 1991, due to Legge Amato, the bank was split into two organizations, Cassa di Risparmio di Verona, Vicenza, Belluno e Ancona S.p.A. and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Verona, Vicenza, Belluno e Ancona. They joined Unicredito banking group as founding subsidiary and shareholder respectively. The banking foundation was a minority shareholder of the successor of the banking group UniCredit.
