Craig Allen Cardon (born December 30, 1948) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2006.
Cardon was born in Mesa, Arizona. He studied accounting and received a bachelor's degree at Arizona State University. He later received a master’s degree in public administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. During his professional career he was self-employed with various business interests.
On April 1, 2006, Cardon was called as a member of the LDS Church's Second Quorum of the Seventy. From 2006 to 2011, he served first as a counselor and then as president of the church's Africa West Area. On March 31, 2012, he was transferred to the First Quorum of the Seventy. In 2011, he was assigned as an Assistant Executive Director in the Priesthood Department and also assists in the supervision of two of the church's North American areas.
From 2012 to 2015, Cardon served as editor of the church's magazines ( Liahona , Ensign , New Era , and The Friend ). In 2015, Joseph W. Sitati succeeded him as editor, with Cardon becoming an adviser to the magazines, a role Sitati had been serving in. On October 6, 2018, Cardon was released and designated an emeritus general authority. [1]
Cardon's previous church service includes a full-time mission in the Italian Mission, president of the Italy Rome Mission (1983–86), stake president, bishop, high councilor, counselor in a stake presidency and bishopric, elders quorum president, institute instructor, and Sunday School gospel doctrine teacher.

A mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a geographical administrative area to which church missionaries are assigned. Almost all areas of the world are within the boundaries of an LDS Church mission, whether or not Mormon missionaries live or proselytize in the area. As of July 2018, there were 407 missions of the LDS Church. On January 2, 2019, the LDS Church announced changes that will close 12 missions through boundary realignments and open up 4 new ones, effective July 1, 2019. When these changes take place, there will be 399 missions of the church.
Mission president is a priesthood leadership position in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A mission president presides over a mission and the missionaries serving in the mission. Depending on the particular mission, a mission president may also be the presiding priesthood leader of some or all Latter-day Saints within the geographic boundaries of the mission. Mission presidents are ordained high priests of the church.
Cardon is married to Deborah Louise Dana and they have eight children.
