Criss Angel Mindfreak is an American reality television series that aired on A&E in the U.S. and Discovery Channel in Canada from July 20, 2005, to September 8, 2010. It centers on stunts and street magic acts by magician Criss Angel. [1]

John Max Thompson was an American comedian and Las Vegas illusionist who performed under the stage name The Great Tomsoni with his wife, Pamela Hayes. They had a comedic slapstick act with the well-dressed Thompson and his gum-popping assistant, Pam, performing illusions while enduring a series of mishaps. Within the magician community, Tomsoni was considered a virtuoso, widely known as a mentor and teacher of magic, and a creator of tricks, as opposed to simply a performer. He worked behind the scenes with magicians such as Penn and Teller, Lance Burton, Criss Angel and Mat Franco. In 1999, he was awarded one of the highest honors in the magician community, a Masters Fellowship with the Academy of Magical Arts. January 30, 2020, Showtime released a documentary about Thompson written and directed by Emery Emery called Gambler's Ballad: The Legend of Johnny Thompson.

The program featured ten contestants competing to become the next great mentalist, to be determined by viewers voting by phone and online. Criss Angel Believe was the sixth Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas, which premiered at the 1,600-capacity Believe Theatre inside the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas in 2008. It is a theatrical production created in partnership of Cirque du Soleil and magician Criss Angel, who was billed as the "co-writer, illusions creator and designer, original concept creator and star" of the show. The show had its final performance on April 17, 2016, being replaced by Criss Angel Mindfreak Live on May 11 of the same year.

Criss Angel BeLIEve is a show that aired on Spike. It debuted on October 8, 2013, and is stylized much like Angel's previous show Mindfreak that aired on A&E. The show gives viewers unprecedented access into Angel's "Think Tank" and shows the creative process behind the illusions and demonstrations from conception to execution. It is centered on stunts and street magic acts by magician Criss Angel. Originally, 11 episodes were set to air, but only 10 were shown due to a surgery on Angel that was deemed necessary after he suffered a severe shoulder injury from his "Double Straight Jacket" escape.
