Aircraft hijacking is the unlawful seizure of an aircraft by an individual or a group. Dating from the earliest of hijackings, most cases involve the pilot being forced to fly according to the hijacker's demands. There have also been incidents where the hijackers have overpowered the flight crew, made unauthorized entry into the cockpit and flown them into buildings – most notably in the September 11 attacks – and in several cases, planes have been hijacked by the official pilot or co-pilot; e.g., Ethiopian Airlines Flight 702.

Blazing Stewardesses is a 1975 American sex comedy film directed by Al Adamson. Its title derives from the 1975 film The Naughty Stewardesses and the 1974 film Blazing Saddles.

Airborne is a 2012 British horror film written by Paul Chronnell and directed by Dominic Burns, who describes it as a tongue-in-cheek film in the tradition of The Twilight Zone. A first trailer was released in 2011. It was reported in the media that it presents Mark Hamill's first appearance in a British film; however, Hamill had acted previously in the 1982 British film Britannia Hospital. Airborne's introduction, before sporting a voice-over by Mark Hamill, refers in writing to a so-called Firelight Protocol.
American Airlines Flight 1 was a regularly-scheduled domestic passenger flight. On January 14, 1936, a Douglas DC-2 airliner, operating the flight that day on its then Memphis to Little Rock route, crashed 14 minutes after departure. All aboard, including 14 passengers and 3 crew, were killed. The cause of the crash remains undetermined. As of 2022, it remains the deadliest crash in Arkansas state history. It was the first of three fatal crashes during an operation of American Airlines Flight 1.
Suicide by pilot is an aviation event in which a pilot deliberately crashes or attempts to crash an aircraft as a suicide act, with the intention of causing harm to passengers on board or people on the ground. This act is sometimes referred to as a murder–suicide. It is suspected to have been a possible cause in several commercial flight crashes and has been confirmed as the cause in other instances. Determining the motives of pilots can be challenging for crash investigators, as pilots may intentionally disable recording devices or engage in other actions to impede future investigations. Consequently, definitively proving pilot suicide can be difficult.
On 7 March 1983, Balkan Bulgarian Airlines Flight 013, operated by an An-24, was hijacked by four hijackers demanding to go to Austria.
