Curl Osmond Thompson was a Belizean politician. Thompson served as an Area Representative in the Belize House of Representatives and as the deputy prime minister. He was also interim leader of the United Democratic Party for a brief period in the early 1980s.
Thompson was the UDP's nominee for the Belize House in the Belize City-based Mesopotamia constituency in 1974,but was defeated by the People's United Party incumbent,C. L. B. Rogers. Thompson was elected to the seat in a 1979 rematch. In January 1983 Thompson became Leader of the Opposition upon Theodore Aranda's departure from the UDP,serving concurrently as interim party leader until Sen. Manuel Esquivel was elected as Aranda's permanent replacement,with Thompson becoming deputy party leader. Thompson served as deputy prime minister during the first Esquivel government from 1984 to 1989. [1]
Thompson was posthumously awarded the Order of Belize in September 2010. [2] Curl Thompson Street in Belize City and the Curl Thompson Building in Belmopan are named after him.

Francis William Fonseca is a Belizean politician who served as leader of the People's United Party (PUP) and as Leader of the Opposition of Belize from 2011 to 2016. First elected to the Belize House of Representatives from the Belize City-based Freetown constituency in 2003,Fonseca served as Attorney General and Minister of Education,Culture and Labour in Prime Minister Said Musa's cabinet until February 2008,when the PUP lost the general election to the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP). Fonseca was one of only six PUP representatives nationwide to retain his seat in the National Assembly in the 2008 election.

A member of the United Democratic Party,Martinez was first elected to the Belize House of Representatives from the Southside Belize City-based Port Loyola constituency in 2003 after an unsuccessful 1998 campaign. He served as Minister of Public Works from 2008 to 2012 under Prime Minister Dean Barrow. After the UDP government was re-elected in 2012 Martinez became Minister of Human Development,Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation.
John Birchman Saldivar is a Belizean politician. A member of the United Democratic Party,Saldivar has represented the Belmopan constituency in the Belize House of Representatives from its creation in 2008 until his defeat in the 2020 general election. He was previously Area Representative for Cayo South.

On 28 September 2015 Prime Minister Dean Barrow announced that he had advised the Governor-General to dissolve the National Assembly and to fix Wednesday 4 November 2015 as the date for the next general elections.
