Curry is a ghost town in Stephens County, Texas, United States.
Established in 1881, Curry is named for settler J. C. Curry. Oil was discovered in the 1920s, and the population peaked at 300. The oil dried up by the 1930s, and the town declined. The settlement was later submerged by a man-made lake. [1] [2]

The county was created in 1876 and later organized in 1892. It is named for Andrew Kent, who died at the Battle of the Alamo. Kent County is a prohibition or entirely dry county, one of four remaining in the state.

Linnville was located on the bay until its abandonment after the Great Raid of 1840, and the major port of Indianola was found near the confluence with the main Matagorda Bay, until the town's final destruction following the massive hurricane of 1886. Staples is the former two-term Texas Commissioner of Agriculture and served with distinction in the Texas Senate and House of Representatives for 12 years. It was, between 1888 and 1921, one of the largest producers of bituminous coal in Texas and the largest company town in the state, with a population of over 10,000. Texon is a small unincorporated desert hamlet in Reagan County, Texas, United States, in the western part of the state about half a mile south of the nearest highway.
