He was born on 30 July 1956 at Kunnamkulam

Career

He was ordained a deacon on December 18, 1975 at the Mar Adhai Sleeha Church by Ayyamkulam Paulose Mar Philexenos III , the 13th Metropolitan of the Church. He was ordained on February 17, 1980 by Mathews Mar Koorilose VIII, the 14th metropolitan of the Malabar Independent Syrian Church. He served for a long time as vicar in various parishes of the church. He has been the Vicar of St. George's Church, Chennai for a long time. He occupied the leadership positions of the Holy Church, the leadership positions of various organizations of the Church, and many official positions of the Church, including the Secretary of the Diocesan Church Reconstruction Committee. For a long time, Dayara was a priest in the palace of Thozhiyur diocese. He received the title of Ramban on March 3, 2001 and the title of Episcopa on March 10, 2001 from Panakkal Joseph Mar Koorilose IX, the 15th metropolitan. Following the resignation of Joseph Mar Koorilose IX on May 28, 2001, Cyril Mar Basselios was ordained as the 16th metropolitan [6]

Malankara Metropolitan is an ecclesiastical title given to the head of the Malankara Syrian Church, previously by the Government of Travancore and Cochin in South India. This title was awarded by a proclamation from the King of Travancore and the King of Cochin. The Prime jurisdiction regarding the temporal, ecclesiastical and spiritual administration of the Malankara Church is vested in the Malankara Metropolitan. The Malankara Metropolitan is the legal custodian of the Kottayam Old Seminary, interest of vattipanam and Other Common Community properties of Malankara Church.

The Malabar Independent Syrian Church (MISC) also known as the Thozhiyur Church, is a Christian church centred in Kerala, India. It is one of the churches of the Saint Thomas Christian community, which traces its origins to the evangelical activity of Thomas the Apostle in the 1st century.

Mar Thoma V was the 5th Malankara Metropolitan from 1728 to 8 May 1765. He was born as Ousep to the Pakalomattom family, one of the oldest families in Kerala. His tenure faced numerous challenges and conflicts with bishops sent from the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate in Antioch, resulting in some of these Syriac bishops being banished from the country and forced to return.

Mar Dionysius I , was the 6th Metropolitan of the Malankara Syrian Church from 1765 until his death. A member of the Pakalomattom family he appealed to outside authorities to assert his position as the sole leader of the Malankara Church and to attempt to reunite all the Saint Thomas Christians.

Mar Thoma IX was the ninth Metropolitan of the Malankara Church in Kerala, India for a brief period in 1816. That year, he was consecrated Metropolitan by Mar Thoma VIII, but soon after his ordination he was dethroned by Pulikkottil Joseph who was appointed by the then British resident Colonel John Munroe.

Mar Dionysius II, born Pulikkottil Joseph Ittoop was 10th Malankara Metropolitan for nine months until his death on 24 November 1816. He dethroned Mar Thoma IX and succeeded him by the favour of Col.John Munroe, then British Resident of Travancore. Despite the brevity of his reign he made lasting contributions to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Punnathra Dionysius III</span>

Mar Dionysius III, also known as Punnathra Mar Dionysius and born Kurien was 11th Malankara Metropolitan and Successor to the Holy Apostolic Throne of St.Thomas from 1817 until his death. Dionysius had a long career in the Malankara Church prior to his consecration as Metropolitan. It was his suggestion during the time of Mar Thoma IX to establish the Syrian seminary at Kottayam, Kerala's first educational institution. He also welcomed some of the first missionary teachers who arrived from England to teach in the seminary. In 1816, following the demise of Mar Dionysius II, who had not appointed a successor, Kurien was elected to succeed him as the Malankara Metropolitan by the general assembly of the Church and was ordained as bishop by Geevarghese Mar Philexenos II of the Malabar Independent Syrian Church.
