Ignatius Kutu Acheampong ( ə-CHAM-PONG;was the military head of state of Ghana from 13 January 1972 to 5 July 1978,when he was deposed in a palace coup. He was executed by firing squad on 16 June 1979.

The National Reconciliation Commission was established in January 2002 by the Parliament of Ghana. The Commission was formed after a new democratic party won the elections in 2000. The Commission covered human rights violations in Ghana from 1957 to 1993. It looked into government abuses and military coups staged by former president Jerry Rawlings. The members of the Commission worked until the end of 2004.

William Adjei Thompson was a Ghanaian soldier and politician. He was the Greater Accra Regional Commissioner from 1975 to 1977,the Regional Commissioner for the Brong Ahafo Region from 1977 to 1978,and the Central Regional Commissioner from 1978 to June 1979. In 1985,he was reappointed Greater Accra Regional Minister and in 1986,appointed Regional Secretary for the Western Region. He remained in this position until April 1988 when he was made Greater Accra Regional Minister for a third time. He served in this capacity until 1991.

He was the first Director of the National Service Secretariat from 1973 to 1975,Regional Commissioner of the Ashanti Region from 1975 to 1977,Greater Accra Regional Commissioner from 1977 to 1978,and the Northern Regional Commissioner from 1978 to 1979.
Colonel Emmanuel Obeng Nyante is a Ghanaian soldier and politician. He was a member of the National Redemption Council (NRC) government which ruled Ghana between January 1972 and October 1975 following a military coup led by Colonel Kutu Acheampong.
Colonel George Minyila was a Ghanaian military officer,diplomat and politician who served in various capacities in the National Redemption Council and Supreme Military Council (Ghana) governments as well as the military during his lifetime. He is best remembered for his reforms in the Eastern Region of Ghana,where he was assigned under the policy of former Head of State Ignatius Kutu Acheampong to deploy Ministers to regions they did not hail from.
