Daddy Long Legs (foaled 12th February 2009) is a Thoroughbred racehorse owned by Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Mrs John Magnier and trained by Aidan O'Brien. He has won the Royal Lodge Stakes and UAE Derby.

Breeding

Daddy Long Legs is a son of Florida Derby winner Scat Daddy. He is one of Scat Daddy's first crop of foals. Daddy Long Legs' dam Dreamy Maiden is a daughter of Meadowlake. [1]

Racing career

2011: Two-year-old season

In 2011, after winning a maiden at Gowran Park, he finished fourth in the Champagne Stakes. [1] His next run came in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket, where he started at the odds of 11/4. Ridden from the front by Colm O'Donoghue he went clear with two furlongs to run and won by 3+14 lengths from Tenth Star, with future Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Wrote another ½ length back in third. [2] His final start of the season came in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile where he finished in twelfth, tailed off behind winner Hansen. [3]

2012: Three-year-old season

Daddy Long Legs's first start as a three-year-old came in the UAE Derby. After tracking the leaders O'Donoghue sent him to the front with 2+12 furlongs to run and he ran on to win by 1+14 lengths from Yang Tse Kiang with Wrote another ¾ length back in third place. [4] He then returned to the United States for the Kentucky Derby, but tailed off in the race and was pulled up by Colm O'Donoghue. He then finished fourth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas behind stablemate Power after setting the early pace, but fading in the closing stages. He finished last of the eight runners in the Secretariat Stakes [1] He then finished last of the six runners in the Irish Champion Stakes after acting as a pacemaker for stablemate St Nicholas Abbey. The race was won by Snow Fairy. [5]

2013: Four-year-old season

Daddy Long Legs was sent to be trained by Mike de Kock and ran three times, without winning, at Meydan in February and March 2013. He returned to England at the end of the year for the Ben Marshall Stakes at Newmarket. He started as a 16/1 outsider and finished fifth of the six runners, about three lengths behind winner Penitent. [1]

2014: Five-year-old season

Daddy Long Legs started 2014 by finishing sixth in the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 1 on 9 January, but then finished in the rear of the field on his two subsequent starts, which were handicaps at Meydan. [1]

Jack Hobbs is a British Thoroughbred racehorse. After winning his only race as a juvenile, he established himself as a potentially top-class colt with a twelve length win in a race at Sandown on his three-year-old debut. He finished second to his stable companion Golden Horn in both the Dante Stakes and The Derby before winning the Irish Derby by five lengths. He ran twice more in 2015, winning the September Stakes before being beaten when favourite for the Champion Stakes. His 2016 season was badly disrupted by injury and he ran only twice, failing to complete his first start and being beaten on his eventual reappearance. However, he rebounded in 2017 by winning the Sheema Classic at Meydan Racecourse on Dubai World Cup Night.

Qualify is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse. On 5 June 2015 she was a 50/1 winner of The Oaks. She ran seven times as a juvenile in 2014, winning a maiden race and the Group Three C. L. Weld Park Stakes but was well-beaten when tried against the best fillies of her generation in the Moyglare Stud Stakes and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. In the spring of 2015 she was initially disappointing as she finished unplaced in both the 1000 Guineas and the Irish 1,000 Guineas before being stepped up in distance and winning the Oaks.

Sophisticat was a Kentucky-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. A daughter of Storm Cat out of the champion filly Serena's Song she was sold for $3.7 million as a yearling and raced in Europe for the Coolmore Stud organization. Racing as a two-year-old, she won only one minor race but was placed in the Queen Mary Stakes, Silver Flash Stakes, Lowther Stakes, Moyglare Stud Stakes and Cheveley Park Stakes. In the following year she won the Prix de la Grotte and finished second in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches before recording her biggest success in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. She was retired at the end of the year and had some success as a broodmare.

Crowded House is a British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. As a two-year-old in 2008 he won two of his four races including an impressive victory in the Group One Racing Post Trophy and was rated the season's best British-trained juvenile. He started the following year as a leading contender for the British Classic Races but ran poorly in the Dante Stakes before finishing sixth in The Derby. He subsequently raced in Dubai and the United States but never won another race although he finished second in the Al Maktoum Challenge, Round 2 and the Pacific Classic. Electra was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. A a two-year-old she showed considerable promise as she won four time from eight starts and finished second on three occasions. In the following year she won the 1000 Guineas and the Park Hill Stakes as well as finishing second in the Newmarket Stakes, Coronation Stakes and Free Handicap. She appeared to be most unlucky when running unplaced in the Epsom Oaks. She failed to win as a four-year-old and was retired from racing but later became a very successful broodmare.

Masar is an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse, best known for winning the 2018 Epsom Derby.
