Dakota Mills (born 3 June 1997) is a football player. Born in the United States, she plays for the Saint Kitts and Nevis national women's team. She has played both as a center back and as a forward.

Early life and education

A native of East Windsor, New Jersey, Mills attended Hightstown High School. [3] She was a varsity starter for the Hightstown Rams for four years, finishing her high school career with 72 goals, including 34 goals plus 10 assists as a senior. [4] A team captain, MVP, and Athlete of the Year at her school, Mills also competed in track and field, and was named The Times of Trenton Girls Soccer Player of the Year for 2014. [4] She was an All-American nominee as well as an All-State honoree. [3] Outside of school, she played for FC Bucks Fury. [3]

College career

Mills was awarded a full scholarship to Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, [4] and played for the Saint Joseph's Hawks from 2015 to 2019. [5]

As a college freshman, Mills scored her first goal within 22 seconds of her debut. [6] She went on to score 10 goals during her freshman season, [7] and was named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie team. [8] She was also selected for the inaugural City 6 Round Robin All-Tournament team. [8]

During her sophomore year, Mills set school records for goals (18) and points (41) scored in a season. [9] [3] In October 2016, she was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week and was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week. [10] She went on to win Offensive Player of the Year awards in the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). [9] She was also included in the 2016 Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team as well as the Atlantic All-Conference First Team, and was selected as an ECAC All-Star. [3]

During her senior year, Mills was selected again to the Atlantic All-Conference First Team, having scored four game-winning goals in 2018. [3] In total, she made 80 appearances during her college career, scoring 39 goals and recording 11 assists, ranking second in school history for goals and points (89), despite missing most of the 2017 season due to an ACL injury. International career

Mills has appeared for the Saint Kitts and Nevis women's national team, including in the 2020 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship against Canada on 29 January 2020. [11] Although Saint Kitts and Nevis's lost 11–0 to Canada, CONCACAF recognized Mills's performance as a highlight, with one of Saint Kitts and Nevis's two shots, and three ball recoveries. [12]
